3 years ago would have still been pretty bad from Hurricane Ike. George Mitchell, huge A&M and oil guy in Houston who built The Woodlands, is originally from Galveston and has put a ton of money into rebuilding it. I haven't been down there in a while but I've heard it's improved. Who knows how many historical houses have been destroyed over the years, especially in the early 1900s hurricane way back when.
Yeah it was still pretty bad, without a doubt. Partially why I really wanted to come back after a few years.
Funny you mention The Woodlands, that's where I saw the concert at. I think it was one of the first major concerts there after their huge renovation, one amazing venue. Just the walk from parking, and around that Pond and the scenery, LOVED that place.
Definitely going to have to go back for both.

Really liked the place, but it was pretty ran down from mother nature (almost 3 years ago when we went) and a ton of homes were still boarded up and not even touched.
I was there this weekend, just to get out of Houston. They have really done a great job of restoring a lot of the houses there. BTW they have a "pleasure Pier" being built, like six flags on the water. looks pretty cool.

Is that what they did with the location of the old Flagship Hotel?
When I went the poor Flagship was all but destroyed and I remember reading into it not too long ago and there was some really nice plans for something huge there.
