I'm not trying to circle jerk, I'm just saying what is true. Almost the exact same things can be said for LSU if Mett pans out.

Taking statement at face value:
LSU had their best club in our history (IMO) and failed to win the bowl game. Tide had one of their best clubs in their history and maybe best D ever in CFB yet did not win conference and required OSU shooting themselves in the foot to get another shot. Good fortune is required. Present day, can you imagine anyone finishing top 5 10 tiems in a row, much less 15. Winning SEC at a 13/20 ratio? I genuinely do not see a 'traditional' dynasty on the horizon. But, you never can tell, we'll see.

Don't get caught in a circle jerk you might end up the pivot. Just let everything play out in the next few years and then worry about it.

I think a couple things make a "dynasty" impossible in present day CFB.
#1) the playing field is too even. There are exceptions, but in general, it's more even than back in the day.
#2(and I consider this a major factor) The players. More than ever now players are all about themselves. Not all of them, but for many of them all they care about is getting their personal stats built and then running to the NFL. That makes in more difficult to keep the players playing as a team in order to succeed as one. You need unity to go on a dynasty type run. Not just one or two years, but year in and year out to play at a high level.

Add in, too many players constantly get in trouble, which can frick up a team and cost them games. Douche coaches that play favorites, thus causing trouble within the program. There is just too much to overcome to be a real dynasty.

Exactly. The scholarship limits, media scrutiny, conference championship games and other stuff I can't remember this late all contribute to parity.

I think some of this has effected LSU in our bowl games. It seems like some of the players already have a foot out the door by the time the actual game gets here.

Good points.

By the way, I hate bama, but gotta give them props. They have a great program. I just wish they weren't all such ***holes.

It's the Atcheson virus. There actually was a time when this wasn't the case.

Coach Bryant had 13 in 20 years. That being the standard, I don't think anyone will approach it. Kudo's to Saban and company though....trying hard to remember blogosphere presents a skewed view of reality.

well i dont think anyone has ever one a NC 4 of 5 years but prolly SEC...which is exactly why i dont think we have ever seen a dynasty in college football I dont even consider bears 20 years anywhere near dynasty type years...yeah we were good but it wasnt every year

If what the Bear did wasn't a dynasty, then there HAE only been two dynasties in CFB. Bama in the 70's was definately a dynasty.

No. Next year will be like 10. You don't replace that many starters and backups to repeat.

If what Coach Bryant did wasn't a dynasty, then I don't know what is.

What in gods name makes you think that. You lost your te, your two best receivers and your best offensive weapon and rb. Good god the delusion in you is great. frick

. So I'd say that the only dynasty in many years has been US

What did USC do that Florida , LSU and Bama haven't. Sorry I'm lot giving them credit for winning the PAC 10 every year. Big deal. 2 hard games a year. Also was found to have cheated their arse of with Reggie bush.

We lost about 9 starters on D in '10. We have 6 starters back this season. It's not even close to the '10 losses. Offense, we return most of our starters I think(I haven't looked much at the charts), but our O line should be excellent again. Our QB returns. We did lose TR,but Lacy can still do some damage
