Didn't there used to be two? I remember people talking about how they blew up the second one for the movie Hooper back in the 70's. Maybe someone with knowledge that goes further back than mine would know.
The stack blown up in Hooper was in Tuscaloosa but not on campus. It was on the campus of the old Northington Hospital (military) which was located where University Mall now stands. I believe it was about 1978 that they filmed that movie.

24 hour diner was not bomb. It was ok for drunk food.

It was more than "ok" for drunk food. I never said it was an amazing 5-star restaurant. But their food was pretty awesome after a night partying

I can think of a lot better places for late night food then the diner. Places that dont have Snoop Doggs mom smoking crack out of the back of the kitchen.

The Student Union and the Old Law Center. They were all built in the 60s and look like shite compared to the rest of the buildings on campus.

Old Law Center.
They should tear it down. But they won't. They are keeping it for classrooms and teacher's offices.

The Art & Architecture building doesn't really go with the rest of campus:

Mayn, you gots to admit, Bryce is a beautiful building. And oh the memories of great times.

Farah is weird but cool. The new law school looks like it's right out of the 80s. Rose Towers, dump.

I think they should basically just turn it into the Freshman building. Just put all the BS classes that every Freshman takes in that building. Because you're right, they're not going to tear it down. I think they're going to rebrick it though so it looks more like the rest of the campus and doesn't stand out that much.

The cooks are what made the place so great.

Apparently the Alumni didnt like the current president at the time so in order to spite him, the alumni went the the completely opposite direction from the architecture of all the other buildings on campus.
That definitely sounds like State alumni.

Not sure on the morgue thing. I know our Journalism building was used as the morgue during the Civil War. I'd have to look into that. I should have read all the historic marker signs outside the buildings. But that building now has classrooms and stuff in it. The very top has a meeting room/classroom. It looks like something out of Harry Potter.
I specifically remember them referencing an observatory used as a morgue because the lead walls kept the temperature at a constant temp. Anyway, regardless of school affiliation, I am a fan of old history. Hell I have spent hours in the city cemetery in Natchez. One of the most historic cemeteries in the southeast and on par with St. Louis and Lafayette cemeteries in New Orleans.
The morgue/hospital was located where the Journalism School is now. That building was torn down in the early 1900's and replaced with Farley Hall. The building itself is long gone.

Probably Bell Engineering, although part of me likes it, too:

Georgia Tech has a great blend of modern-style research and classroom buildings, as well as old-fashioned campus style buildings.
The first few pics remind me of several buildings on UCF's campus. Must've hired the same architectural designer.
