UA had a smoke stack that was built in the '60s on campus...right behind BB Comer. They knocked it down a year or two ago.

I'm surprised that your mental hospital doesn't have one attached to it. Just about every hospital older than forty years old always had one.

Sucks they tore that stack down. Campus has changed so much in the last 7 years.

Sad times, it was a campus landmark imho

The sororities will be going here-
Alpha Gam, Tri Delt, ADPi, and DG (new chapter?) are the ones getting new houses.
HERE is a map.
Tri Delt will be on the lot closet to KD, then Alpha Gam next, then ADPi, then DG.
The old houses will be used to bring new chapters of sororities not already on campus.

The new houses will be built behind the President’s Mansion where Wilson, Byrd, Parker-Adams and New Hall are currently located. The demolition of those buildings was approved by the board of trustees in June.

Apparently the Alumni didnt like the current president at the time so in order to spite him, the alumni went the the completely opposite direction from the architecture of all the other buildings on campus
Never heard that but the donor did select the style. It's straight out of Disney World.
This is another one. It's a nice building sitting next to the lake but it doesn't fit the campus in context. The Bryan Building

The Bryan definitely doesn't fit but it's surrounded by athletic facilities and it's so spread out in that part of campus that there's almost no buildings for it to look out of place with.

There are some ugly buildings, but not many weird.
I always thought Bell Engineering is a complete waste. It's ugly, doesn't fit with any of the architecture on campus, and if you go in, about half of the sf in there is useless common space in the middle. To me, that building always had the feel of a mall that had about 2/3 of its stores out of business.

The old Sig Ep Motel 6 was butt ugly before someone burned it down. Also the old KAT house before it went under the bulldozers. The Communications Building always reminded me of a big city housing project highrise.

Yeah I used to walk past that thing every day on my way to class.
Didn't there used to be two? I remember people talking about how they blew up the second one for the movie Hooper back in the 70's. Maybe someone with knowledge that goes further back than mine would know.
Yeah and whoever said that Paty needs to go is absolutely right. I hated living in that dump and I cant imagine its any better 17 years later.

Close enough to the Hump and Sanderson's that State's typical brick could have been used.

U of Nebraska... "The Penis of the Plains"

Not my campus, but I drive by it almost every day. Definitely an oddball building.
@ Pitt, lovingly known as the "Erection of Education" or the "Inverted mine shaft" by the locals. University calls it the Cathedral of Learning.

How about the slave house in Ttown. That thing's pretty weird.

The title of the thread is a tough one to work with, because how do you define "wierd?" There are some buildings on Ole Miss' campus which aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing or original looking (Hume, Lewis, the Tad Pad), but they're not strange or anything like that.
Ventress is unusual, but it's not ugly. It's actually a pretty neat building and situated in a nice part of campus.
I guess the answer would have to be the student union, simply because it doesn't fit in architecturally with the rest of the campus.
Also, the old Law School is strange. They need to burn that thing down. Also, the elevators are bizarre (they've got one that only goes to even floors and one that only goes to odd floors, for example) and the gigantic open area when you walk in is like something out of a high school.

Georgia Tech has a great blend of modern-style research and classroom buildings, as well as old-fashioned campus style buildings.

Qbert! Wasted many quarters playing that in Gallette's around '82 and '83.
