LSU is too good of a job to be settling for hires.

LSU literally just hired a defensive line coach as HC .. has any other power 5 school ever done this?

Playoff bound Clemson hired Dabo Swinney a WR coach....so yeah.

p.s. Isn't ironic that Bama's future coach was once an interim head coach? ;-)

How many losing seasons does he have as a HC?

Think it would be very intriguing, and a good hire...Oregon's spread under Helfrich is fairly balanced but has ran the ball slightly more than they've passed it ...that should fit well with current LSU personnel...

A bit ridiculous, he lost to the eventual national champion and runner up. Those two teams also beat up on everyone else on their schedules. Helfrich is a horrendous HC, but he'd make a very good OC. Much better than anything you've had in years.

well, if LSU's biggest hurdle is beating Alabama and their ultimate goal is to win the division and conference, then it isn't all that ridiculous. The increasing inability to beat teams like that and move the ball on offense against them is exactly why Miles was fired. They need to hire an offensive coordinator that will have a scheme and recruit the type of players necessary to move the ball on top flight defenses with regularity.

One of my best friends is a Clemson grad/fan, and I can assure you he was plenty frustrated with Dabo his first few years as HC. the narrative was he was too nice a guy to be successful. He had a losing season his second year on the job and had a 5 loss season his first. It took Dabo several years before he had any real success at Clemson. No, it wasn't as bad as O, but let's not pretend he had a great start either. He was firmly on the hot seat going into year 4 when he finally broke through and won the ACC (although he did get curb stomped in the Orange Bowl by WVU and finished the year 2-4 after an 8-0 start)
