We have a fund set up to where no one can outbid us unless its the New England Patriots.

Just imagine if be could have gotten some of those 4 and 5 stars he lost to Nutt. Recruiting is getting players to come to your school instead of others. Mullen is not good at that. He is extremely efficient at getting the most out of his players.
Sorry, this is ignorant...
He lost a handful of guys to Nutt once... one year... 2011. That had nothing, I'm sure, to do with our best recruiter(Hudspeth) and our DC(Diaz) leaving for other jobs, along with the Cam Newton situation being front page news. Basically, a perfect storm, surrounded by above the norm desperation in Oxford...
Outside of that one season and 3 recruits, only one of which appears to be panning out, we've done very well in recruiting, and it has improved tremendously over the past two seasons.

what does that mean?

Boosters have set up a fund which ensures that Mullen won't leave over not getting enough money.

It means that Mullen has a lifelong contract to MSU unless we decide to fire him or the Patriots want him.
Something like that.

Please tell me how Mullen isn't better than Sumlin. Mullen is 1-0 against him already, aTm doesn't have the studs that that Houston team did.
trolling?

So the newbie to the SEC is now a historical expert on MSU and Mullen? Give me a fricking break. State will be the program that MUllen wants it to. There are no handicaps. Especially not any someone from TX would know about
I agree with the Texan.

Mullen did not pursue Grant, C. Brown, and I think Bell, too. Never really went after Parker (OM South Panola pipeline) either. Moncrief was an OM lean while he was still a junior and State was never in it.
Several of the others aren't even playing for OM anymore. For example, you can say that Ole Miss 'beat out' Mullen for Pat Patterson, but the player we signed instead is still playing for State. Same goes for several others on that list.
Either way, out of that entire list, only Moncrief would be for sure starting for State. A few others would be on the 2-deep, and a couple more might be playing as 3rd stringers.
So Mullen's recruiting >>> OM's recruiting on those players.

Recruiting is about getting signatures in February. Mullen wanted these players but did not get their signature because they decided OM over MSU. You cannot spin it any other way than he was out recruited. Some of them he had no shot at and some he did. Regardless you have to get top notch talent to compete at a high level in this league and these players are examples of Mullen missing out on top notch in state talent he wanted.
He will never compete for the west until he can win these types of recruiting battles.

Damn don't be so pessimistic about us ... even as much as it would pain me to see y'all go to the SECCG it would be fine by me in the end because I know if y'all can make it we can too (or vice versa)
