That would be great news for the rest of the SEC. Lock him up for an extended contract before it's too late.

Would probably need to go 10-2 to get a meaningful extension. Even then, I probably wouldn't expect him to get anything which ties Tennessee to him long term unless he wins the SEC or something.

9-4 he will stay, but that won't be enough if he loses to the wrong teams by big margins.

UT needs to compete against UF and UGA. They really need to beat one of them.

Dooley will never win 9 games at Tennessee.

I think people are a little gun-shy because of the terrible reputation of our big money players and athletic department being unwilling to shell out big bucks for a top-flight coach.

This is no longer the case. Hart has shown he will open the check book. $325k for Graham to be RB coach, $2.4 mill for Sunseri as DC. He knows what it is going to take to right the ship, and is taking the steps to do so. When he fires Dooley; he'll fill the spot with the right guy, whether it's with a "top-flight" coach or with his buddy Kirby.

The decision will likely be made before the bowl game. 9-3 would certainly get him another year. 8-4 may get him another year, but not for sure. Also, 8-4 is not a 'good' year, regardless of the bowl game.

If he goes 7-5 he will stay... which is stupid.

He won't go 7-5 so I don't think we have to worry about it.

I doubt he stays at 7-5. There would need to be a bunch of injuries or something like that to justify that. Or he would have to beat Bama or something.

Is Sunseri a multiple year contract? If so UT might lose a coach that wanted to bring in his own guys.

Him and his mom will just keep blaming George Bush until the next election.

UT trying to meddle with coaching staffs has screwed things up before. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I'm more confident that UT will allow the next guy to bring his own guys if he wants to.

I'm sure he will. Excuses are his thing. He certainly likes to avoid the blame. That said, I think his seat is much hotter than a lot of people think. Tennessee would have probably fired him already if it wouldn't look bad to fire a guy after two seasons, especially when he inherited a mess.

There are much better candidates that Tennessee should go after than Dooley. UT doesn't need a coach in training they need an Urban Myer or someone that is an established coach. If they want to compete for championships then they just need to cut ties now and go for the best they can get.

Agreed, unless you mean right now. Can't make a move this close to signing day. Should be done after next year.
