They've not been recruiting as well as you'd think Billy would be as a "recruiter" and didn't use the portal until this year.
That and a tough schedule/ arse coaching and this is what you get.
Dude has too many staff members with too many titles. He has like 5 "executive coaches" on field this year

"didn't use the portal until this year"
Pretty sure he has used the portal decently. 1st round draft pick, @s1ickszn.
He has mad some Les Miles level end game decisions that have lost a game a yeas, the sub-coaching has hurt (same number on field), and he should get a real play calling OC... and the stupid titles should go "gamechanger Coordinator", etc. But the record does not at all reflect the culture change, the change in recruiting, and the talent on the field this year. They will be lucky to get 5 wins, but Drink is a good example if you give him time (and remember this is flordia, a real brand) they could be dangerous again at some point. Real Florida fans, unlike this Caw teenager, should give him another year. FYI, I also think the UAA are idiots... and I have decent connections with the school.

Would the schedule be considered such a bfd if Urbs was still running things and Teebus was still behind center?
Insurmountable? No. But we wouldn't be expecting to win the conference.

He used the portal from the get to because Florida completely screwed themselves with recruiting and NIL. It's why Mullen quit trying.
Ricky Pearsal and Mertz kept it from being a 3-win team last year. Both portal.
It's so far the only thing Napier has done well.

Not making excuses for Napier but name the top SEC talent we have except maybe Wilson and Moore? I think KY has more preseason All SEC players than we do. Our RB is pretty good but he is no exceptional SEC talent. Nor is the QB etc. All our QB did was throw short on many 3rd and 4th downs jacking his completion % up while not moving the chains at key times. Like his primary objective was not to risk an incompletion instead of attempting a throw into a tighter window for a 1st down.

I don't know who that is, I have never posted, have lurked for years, well before I saw you post. You would call me Disney, have have much deeper connections to the school than you could fathom, and like you, I think the Uaa is counterproductive to say the least. I posted because if we act like a petulant child which is half our base, and s-can another coach in 3 yrs we are at the same place we have been for decades. He is at least changing the culture, let's at least use him for that and see if he can actually coach with that talent/culture. You obviously have absolutely no idea what was going on in the locker room the last couple yrs of mullen the way that you talk. I am not the guy you said.

We improved our depth and filled some holes but we didn't get any likely top SEC big difference makers in the portal. FSU this past season and probably Miami this year got players that can really change a teams record in the portal.

Lol..We haven't had a coach without a winning record his 1st 3 seasons at UF stay the coach since right after WW2 in the later 1940s.

True. Same time, can't think of a coach on the market that would come to UF that would be less of a gamble than keeping the current coach. Our fan base needs to be demanding, but less fickle an pragmatic.

If Napier cant have a winning record in year 3 he absolutely needs to go. Heck many usual lower level SEC teams wouldn't tolerate that.

Missouri, with a much lesser brand and recruiting was <= .500 yr 1-3 and went 11-2 in yr 4.

Kind of like what Jayden Daniels did two years ago. Was scared of making a bad throw and would hold on to the ball too long. Coaches had to tell him to take risks. And that VR lab did wonders for him. No QB will ever have a season without some interceptions.
Hope you guys can turn it around. A good Florida team is great for the conference.

I hate to compare him to Orgeron, because he’s not an idiot, but I get the sense that he’s just a position coach who’s trying to follow the same script he saw at Alabama, kind of like Orgeron did with USC. He’s just in over his head. Maybe if he hires the right assistants he’ll strike gold, but I doubt it. Nothing against the guy.

I didn’t say we were putting out Urban’s 2008 team, I just said we have the most talent and depth since Napier’s been here. Ever yone of our starters and most of our 2 deep are guys who legitimately would be in the rotation on most SEC teams. We aren’t going to have guys like Des Watson taking 50% of snaps this season like we were forced to the 2 last years.
Just to humor you though, Shemar James and Austin Barber (when healthy) would probably be the only 2 I would say are guys who have potential 1st/2nd team all SEC talent along with the two you mentioned. Maybe Asa Martin and Elijah Badger as transfers who had a lot of success elsewhere.
Other than that, I believe we had 4 guys who were on the all freshmen SEC team who I think are pretty well proven in Wilson (although I know you already mentioned him), Searcy, Castell and Collins. Slaughter, Jamari Lyons and Pup Howard also impressed during spring. That whole group is probably too young to get those kind of accolades this year though, although they are plenty talented.
