In short, MSU recruited one way, but the new design of the baseballs approved by the NCAA has made the college game flow the exact opposite way. The old "gorilla ball" vs. "small ball" argument.

Haha that's not why Mississippi State is 8-22. Homeruns are up but not enough to make your team suck.

I know. South Carolina is in a slump themselves this year

After seeing USC, they look significantly lacking in talent. Very few good arms and very average at the plate minus 2 players.

Moo State is spending all the money on football this season. The hefty first baseman will now be headed to the offensive line.

3 out of 7 seasons at MSU, Cohen has won just single digit games in-conference. No surprise, imho. He doesn't recruit very well.

There are 3 big time jerks in SEC baseball. Serrano, Golloway, and Cohen. And they all suck.

Have never heard that about Serrano. I don't think he's too great of a coach but I have always heard he is a nice guy.

That's no excuse guy.

Van Horn did the same thing. Arkansas led the nation the lst two years with 17 draft picks, dominated by pitchers.

Arkansas started 1-5 in SEC play, but solid coaching with this young team got them to finish 17-12 in SEC play and not losing a series in league play in their last 8 series.

StarkVegas happened Seriously though -- it's a true shithole, with a true shithole coach. How they are ever beyond mediocre in anything -- which is extremely rare, let's be honest -- is one of life's great mysteries. Unless you're WhitewaterDawg. He's got it all figured out, apparently. The problem is LSU.

I feel like Wes Rea has already interviewed for the head coaching job at Wheeler High School this morning before attending First Baptist Church in Montpelier... Saltillo or Houlka are probably possibilities as well.

Using the new ball for an excuse actually reflects even worse on Cohen, then. It's been in the "works" for at least 2 years prior to this season, so he should have expected some sort of change & recruited accordingly. I was really hoping he would get tossed yesterday in the UT game, especially as he was right & the umps made the wrong call on that play in the 9th. But as the Bear used to say, bad teams get bad breaks, good teams get good breaks. Moo State was just bad this season.

Cohen always makes excuses... If the headset is on or he's at the podium with a mic in his face then excuses are flowing... The truth is he has a team full of fringe SEC baseball players... Take Mizzzou and Ole Miss... 2 middle of the pack SEC teams this season... MSU has 2 maybe 3 players that would've started for the Tigers or Rebels this year... That's pathetic... Wes Rea is so god damn fat.

Cohen is simply one of the shittiest people in the conference, and you reap what you sow.

I've never heard any criticism of Serrano as a person either; ever. I think the poster is mistaken.
