Cost of Attendance:
LSU - $23,522 ($40,199 out of state)

Oh, and they have a no-loan policy at Vanderbilt. It's literally Cost of Attendance Minus EFC is what they ask you to pay. If you can't pay it, they gift it.

For an average Southern middle class family, Vanderbilt is actually the second cheapest college option. As you can see on the chart below, the average cost is $7,300. Vanderbilt baseball can give a 1/6 scholarship and cover that.

Never seen it broken down like that before. Do you have a link?

Vandy doesn't break it down "officially," but that's the average numbers of the Ivy League. Vanderbilt's deal is competitive with their offers. I have a niece that flirted with those elite schools before chasing a boy to Alabama. Princeton was her best offer and Vanderbilt was next.

Thanks. Vanderbilt has done an amazing job of defraying the annual cost to the majority of their incoming students.
It would be really interesting to see the household income demographics of families of elite high school baseball players in this era of travel ball. Especially in various areas of the country as Vandy and many other schools recruit nationwide.

Yep. I have daughters that I will steer there if they continue on the path that they are currently on. For most families, the most that they will have to pay is about what the average state school costs. You just have to gain admission, which is getting more difficult every year.

It's simple...
The ancillary money available at places like Vandy/Stanford/USC-w/TCU makes them attractive destinations provided the grades are in place.
It's actually surprising how much of an underachiever the USC-w baseball program has been for awhile now.
Kudos to Vandy and Stanford for putting a priority on their baseball programs... if more privates around the country made the fundamental decision to compete for titles they would share the same advantages.
Think Duke, Pepperdine, USD, Miami etc.
If your desire as a player is to make it to the big league and you fall short of that goal, you have a very marketable education to fall back on to help you in life.
These advantages underscore just how good of a job the other SEC baseball powers have been doing.

Having to put with the whistler all game every game? Hell all those kids deserve a scholarship just for that sacrifice.

Opportunity Vanderbilt is a program put in place to defray the cost of attending Vanderbilt and is available to all students. It is need-based and while it is a big help, it doesn't fully cover the costs of attending Vanderbilt.
Isn't it a sliding scale comparative to what Ivies do?
ETA: nevermind, see that was also discussed

The difference is Tenn doesn't get the same benefits as Vandy and Tops and Hope is limited by the scholarship restrictions put in place by NCAA plus the 35 man roster.
Tennessee has the hope just like Georgia

Every student at Vandy is pretty much there on scholarship. Even the athletes.

If they aren’t getting degrees and the have sub par facilities compared to State Ark OM LSU etc why are top recruits nationally so interested in going there
Don't confuse a small(er) stadium with a lack of facilities. I would bet that Vanderbilt's baseball support facilities are among the best in the country.
I also think Vanderbilt, with some exceptions, largely recruits from a different pool (both academically and geographically) than the schools you mentioned.

One of the biggest miscalculations by the average fan is how much the actual gameday facilities matter to prospective student athletes.
Building nice stadiums is primarily to attract a fanbase. Student athletes want nice support facilities. Vanderbilt is as good as anyone there.
Mississippi State's stadium is beautiful, but average attendance is basically the same it was before. We have a team ranked in the top 10 playing another top 10 team with beautiful weather and couldn't bring in 10k this past weekend. That has to be concerning to the "build it and they will come" crowd.

It’s simple really. Baseball is the thinking man’s game.

Sorry but I disagree with your statement. This was copied off of Vandy’s Baseball page
quote:
Vanderbilt finished second nationally and led the SEC with 13 former players making an MLB appearance in 2018. The Commodores led the nation with seven pitchers who made at least one MLB start and eight total hurlers who made an appearance. The Black and Gold also had a major presence in the 2018 MLB Postseason with four alumni on playoff rosters. The mark was tied for the most in the SEC and was second nationally.
I would agree with this statement in any other sport besides baseball
