if any Big 10 or Pac 12 teams don't make the playoff but are eligible for a NY6 they have to be in the Rose right?

Yes and I think the Sugar is SEC Big XII

We're talking about 10 win teams here, and everyone with a respectable amount of intelligence knows what bowl games are more important so I don't see what the big deal is.

How does Florida get to 10 wins before bowl season?

Alright smartass. Ten win teams and one nine win team. You can throw Utah State in there if you like.

I think between Utah, Pittsburgh, Texas and Northwestern - one of those teams pulls the upset in the conference championship game and gets a guaranteed spot.

Utah and Northwestern win they are in the Rose Bowl automatically.
Texas beats Oklahoma, they get the Sugar Bowl vs. top SEC team not in playoff.
Pittsburgh could go to the Peach or Fiesta Bowl.

Peach: Central Florida vs Florida - Anytime Florida teams get together sparks fly. UCF trying to take on the system gets to take on their state's flagship.

Peach isn't taking UCF again. This matchup would be in the Fiesta while LSU would be in the Peach against a B12 team.

nah.

Our fans wouldn't be remotely pumped about it (similar to auburn last yera) and like the hawaii sugar bowl it's a no-win. We win, we were supposed to. We lose, we'll never hear the end of it.

Ideally we make the playoffs and bama doesn't and those 2 get matched in the sugar. Bama would beat them by 40+

What about a Sugar Bowl rematch against Oklahoma?

Ideal within general realistic parameters

Cotton Bowl : Alabama vs Notre Dame
Orange Bowl : Clemson vs Michigan

Fiesta Bowl : Georgia vs UCF (Georgia murders UCF)
Sugar Bowl : LSU vs Oklahoma (LSU Pass D vs Murray)
Peach Bowl : Kentucky vs Texas (I'd just rather UK than UF)
Rose Bowl : Washington State vs Ohio State (Lil Stache lights up Urban)

I don't want to see Florida in a NY6 game. I certainly don't want them to play and lose to UCF.

I don't want to play oklahoma again period, we just did that.

Back in teh late 90s to recently there was another team it seems we would ALWAYS get matched up with in bowl season. First is was Purdue, then wisconsin, then MSU, then nebraska.

I mean how boring is it as a fan to rematch with a team you played in a bowl last season? It sucks.

Maybe. Under Saban we've had a tendency to lay an egg when we have just barely gotten left out. In 2013 against Oklahoma and 2008 against Utah.

maybe, but this bama team is better than those and this ucf is likely not in the same stratosphere as those other teams as well.

That Oklahoma team was pretty bad. They lost to a bad Texas team, and Baylor boat raced them.

I think UCF is good enough that they wouldn't get beat that badly if their opponent just rolled the ball out even if that opponent was Bama, Clemson, or Georgia.

Maybe - but Ritter is right, the only time we generally just lay eggs are in those games.

We've played 4 games since 2008 where we have been eliminated from national title/conference title discussion.

- 2008 (2009) Utah
- 2010 Auburn
- 2010 (2011) Michigan State
- 2013 (2014) Oklahoma

I would not want a throw away game against UCF. I would not feel good about it.

I mean, if you're going to run your mouth about "respectable intelligence" you could at least be correct when you do it.

So, if Georgia goes 11-1 but loses a close game in OT to Alabama in the SEC Championship game (which would likely keep them out of the playoffs), then they should go home?

I agree there are too many bowls, but more than four teams deserve post-season reward. It might be 20 teams (10 bowls), but there are more than four bowl-worthy teams.

I would too. I think UK is probably below Penn State on the totem pole though. Kentucky fans should be cheering for Washington State to win out, Florida State over Florida, Maryland over Penn State, and maybe even Boise over Utah State.

I honestly don't know how the G5 thing works. Is it just one spot or is it like anyone of them in the top 12 or whatever gets a bid?

Yea, maybe it is like this every year, but outside of the Top 9 or 10 it really feels like all of the teams could be interchanged with 8-4 teams.

Penn State has done nothing this year outside of beating Pitt early when Pitt was garbage. Kentucky lost to Tennessee by 17. Florida lost at home to Missouri by 30.

The highest ranked G5 conference champ is guaranteed a berth if none of them make the playoff.

you're like a low-tier BowlJackson

Everyone who knows anything about college football knows that the Rose Bowl is a bigger game than the Destination XL Frisco Bowl. Does that wording work better for you?
