I feel like the SEC is becoming good enough of a conference to get him to stay IF we give him a new Arena ASAP.

Nate is staying for the long run. He was the hottest coaching candidate last job cycle when the Duke, UNC, and Indiana jobs came open, yet he didn't bounce. The sky is the limit to what he is building in Tuscaloosa, and we certainly won't be outbid by anybody.

I don't think he had enough of a track record to be a serious contender for these jobs. These schools would have missed big on their top target for Nate to get these jobs.
Maybe after this year and the next year with the same results then we will see if he stays around after being regarded as a great coach and now proven track record

UNC and Duke promoted from within, while Indiana hired a 63 year old with no collegiate coaching experience. Nate 100% would've been a splashier hire than any of those guys. IU especially would've taken him in a heartbeat.

There's a reason for that. They are being taught by the best, they know the program, they know everything already and have established connections.

Neither Duke, UNC or Indiana was looking at Oates at that time.

Don't let recency bias and the big wins and recruits cloud your judgement. We went 16-15 and on squarely on the bubble and a sweet 16 run. Those 2 seasons is not going to get you the best job in college basketball with that resume (while building and impressive)

You think Bama would hire the Cincinnati coach who only lost 4 games in three years, beat 6 ranked opponents and nearly upset UGA last season, and be the first G5 coach to reach the playoffs?
Yeah I didn't think so

I'm not sure if we're talking about Nate Oats or the new arena. Nate Oats signed another extension last season and verbally made it clear he loved being in Tuscaloosa. With his blue-collar style and Wimp Sanderson look I would agree. As far as the arena is concerned the fans are far more deserving of a new place after years at Coleman than any head coach. They need to do the right thing and start over.

Slim if calipari doesn’t get his shite together. There’s a LARGE portion of the fanbase here already wanting Nate oats. It’s also Alabama basketball. I mean, if he does too well, bigger programs will come knocking. No different than when your football team does the same,

It's Alabama. Not WKU.

Alabama can become a "big" program..we have some history maybe not hardware but the tools are already there to be. Alabama can match any offer if they want to.

Football is a lot tougher to build and maintain and coaches jump ship because they know this. Basketball is much different in that aspect

When Nate leaves, it will be for the NBA. And that's not happening soon.

I would be concerned in UM or MSU came open for sure or any blue blood.

I want him around for as long as possible.

Have you not read anything about 'College Football’s “Destination Job” Era is Dead.'? It applies to all sports now.
