I think that remains to be seen. If the NCAA kills UNC and OM, they run the risk of ostracizing two powerful conferences and causing an end run away from NCAA altogether.

They have so many now, they probably just hang them up like Christmas cards.

See SMU, Saunders etc.

No. In the end, academic fraud and punishment for that will be upheld by the Universities. The SEC isn't going to pull out of the NCAA due to that.
No conference is going to out right accept cheating. If they do, it will kill the product. It will become a bidding war, and NOBODY wants that.

Going after coaches seems to be a way to balance it. After a while, what coach would want to risk their career over cheating?
Couple that with the punishment to the schools, and the cheating lessens. It will set them back 5 years.
For Ole Miss, it's their own fault that they did not comply and continued forward with their actions.

Based on what little I know about UNC, their allegations are for much more spurious conduct (creating classes for athletes and letting them have grades), but because the classes where open to everyone, they have a viable defense.
OM fixed admission exams under a previous staff, but otherwise only paid some players and gave small benefits. However, OM appears to have no real defense.
So, UNC could receive less punishment for a greater crime, so to speak.

It will be out soon enough.

No doubt. I think the current rank of the Ole Miss class is a good indicator of the impact of this lingering has had on their program.
Don't look at the rank. Look at the average rating per commit. We rarely have a lot of commits during the season. Most come late in the recruiting cycle.
We still have a great shot at a few big named prospects.
I'm not saying that this whole ordeal hasn't impacted us at all....because obviously it has. I'm just saying that you can't base judgement off of it just yet. Give it a month and see where we stand....that'll give you a good indicator on where we are with the NCAA.
This class following up a great class from last year is very similar to our 2014 class following up the monster 2013 class we had. My theory is that we spent a ton of time last year recruiting 2016 guys and not enough on the juniors coming out on this class.

You've said that for at least a year. Put up or shut up.

oh look.....more incredibly vague posting by butterfly so that he can piggy-back whatever comes out and say "I told you so"....or just keep saying "it's coming" until something eventually does come out.

He doesn't actually know shite about anything...other than "something" will come out at some time....and that he will run like hell to this board screaming "I told you so....didn't I?"

Dude is from Tuscaloosa, so at least we can pretend it was on the up and up.
Greg Little, on the other hand, was the one we should have ponied up for

UNC's allegations have less to do with their premiere program -- basketball -- than Ole Miss' allegations have to do with football. Both are gonna get hit, but OM is likely to feel it more. No matter how good (or not) they are at basketball, this is still SEC country and football is king.

That is pretty obvious at this point. He's a guy that reads Gene's page and has his fingers and toes crossed that OM and Freeze get hammered. He turns this desire into anonymous message board bravodo with ZERO substance.
That said, I'm on the record in hoping Freeze gets hammered. I hope Ole Miss survives otherwise unscathed though.

Not a fan of Freeze, I take it?
