How do you justify their continued improvement post-Serrano? Surely if he was a once-in-a-generation coach, there would have been a dropoff. Since you say he "built" that program, this would certainly be similar to Smoke winning at a higher level than Bertman did... but wait, that didn't happen? So, which is it?
Glad to see you could chrerrypick a sentence among those paragraphs to disagree with though -- while dismissing the sea of facts that my post included...

I'm glad we don't have to play Tennessee in baseball, they'd certainly bring down our SOS. They already did it in football

How many posts are you going to attempt to hijack with this nonsense? I get it. Your jimmies are obviously still rustled about getting swindled into taking the 3* brother that won't qualify while still missing out on the star to another team that kicked your arse.

Maybe he can take over for "the best cornerback in the nation."
Already got 4*s in line for the title -- to take over for 2 of the top 5 CBs in the country -- both one-offer 2*s out of highschool.

Now you are comparing Bertman/Smoke and a program that has 6 national titles to UC Irvine? Dude GTFO
You are giving Serrano 0 credit for what he did at Irvine and Fullerton. Fullerton I can understand, they have been a traditional baseball power for awhile now, but to say that in regards to Irvine...right.
I think your whole argument is retarded. You fricking said that Irvine was going to be a baseball power regardless of who the coach is...Give me a fricking break.
I'm not going to waste my time in this thread anymore. I suppose you or I could have turned Irvine into a baseball power, considering that they would have been one regardless of who was coaching right?
I have heard it all now....

quote:Swindled into taking him? He fits perfectly with Johnson's 4-2-5 defense, retard. He was a take with or without his brother and everyone knew that leading up to Signing Day. He will be playing the SPUR/STAR position as a hard hitting, in the box safety. Do I also need to bump this thread when he does qualify?

Again, congrats on landing Mackensie Alexander. I know you were so excited about the news.

Did you improve when Bertman moved on, yes or no? I didn't think so.
Did UC Irvine improve when Serrano moved on? Yes. Big difference.

Yet Irvine has gotten better since he left, and you can't explain it to me? I even showed their all-time record in D1(which his average was less than 2% above). Hardly earth shattering stuff there, man.
This is literally like saying Paul Gregory built MSU baseball. After all, he took us to Rosenblatt for the first time. Makes no difference that Polk improved everything directly after him and took us to 6 more(1 for Pat McMahon). But, but, but Gregory took MSU to Omaha!!! Paul Gregory ladies and gentlemen! Once-in-a-generation coach!

That's probably in your best interest at this point. Arguing with statistical facts that I've presented is ridiculous. You called me out -- I proved my initial point conclusively. Serrano is a very good coach. He's done nothing to prove greatness at this point. He's certainly never tackled anything even remotely on the level of the rebuild he's still facing at Tennessee...

Yes.
Congrats on getting Croom's old coaching staff. They were tremendous at MSU. I know you are excited...

I don't care what Irvine has done since he has left. Thats not what I'm arguing. He was the one who got them to Omaha initially. According to you they would have been a baseball power regardless. Prove to me how they would have become a baseball power pre Serrano.

What are you arguing?

Paul Gregory got MSU to Omaha initially. Surely you don't think of him when talking about "who built MSU baseball?"

Prove to me otherwise? They've done nothing but get better since he left. That much is a fact. He walked in the door after a coach had just completed the first 4 recruiting classes in the history of the program. That coach's final 2 recruiting classes are what led them to Omaha under Serrano's tutelage. What part of this screams "Serrano-built"?
Are you honestly arguing that 3 years on the job is enough time to build a sustainable baseball powerhouse? Because I'm calling bullshite on that one. Enough time to get in 2 recruiting classes is enough time to become a national power? Really?
quote:
Prove to me how they would have become a baseball power pre Serrano.
Had the players in place when he arrived. Got better after he left. What more do you need as "proof" that he was in the right place at the right time -- and the new coach has raised the bar even further?
Surely, a coach that is as good as you are presenting him to be would not be outdone by the very next guy to come in. Yet he has been...

Gosh, you are right. Miles is the much better coach than Saban since Miles has outdone Saban at LSU. I mean LSU always had talent.

So Serrano's recruiting classes have led them to be better than what they were when Serrano was there?
