Always been a bit of a head scratcher to me as to why MSU did not have a great golf team. Although we never really seemed to put any effort into getting good coaches in the minor sports. I think that is turning around (hope so anyways).

We had a coach who was getting paid to play in the State Am every year, and that was about the extent of his job. Shameful

I've played both. Old Waverly is great (not on the list of best courses I've seen), but really nice and fun. Mossy Oak is going to need several years to mature before it can even begin to be in the same class as old Waverly.

Mossy Oak is longer and more in line with todays top courses. Years away from maturity.
Waverly was built with room to add length, but I doubt there's any plans like that these days

Mossy Oak is hard right now but give it a few years for the native grasses to take root and it will be an absolute beast. Greens are extremely slick out there and they have more slope than Waverly imo.
Waverly to me is a tough course but not near as hard as Mossy Oak
