Petrino being let go has to be the biggest mistake Arkansas has ever made.

Meh...the guy was an first class a**hole though. If that affair hadn't bitten him, something else eventually would've. If he was cheating on his wife/family, what makes you think he was squeaky clean in other aspects of his life? I think Arky made a good decision.

Petrino put them in the position where they had to let him go. Outside of the Johnelle hiring, I think the Arkansas AD handled this properly.

The 184 applicants for the job he created to give to his mistress. He wasn't fired for having an affair.

Hhhmmm. I'm not so sure this could have been proven but sure. If Arkansas believes that then so be it.

If you know that little about the circumstances of his dismissal, you really shouldn't be commenting on it.

as odd as this phrase sounds, arkansas could have been in miami. Culture Clash. Bama fans will fit in nicely down there due to our class and good figures.

Arkie had no choice. You can pretend they did but they didn't. Keeping Petrino simply wasn't realistic.

If it makes you feel better Hogs I felt the same way when we had to force Jackie Sherrill out, only he didn't get a piece of arse for his trouble.

Lol what? This is sarcasm right? Have you ever been to Miami? Nothing about Miami would ever make me think "Yeah this seems right on par with Tuscaloosa and Baton Rouge." Not knocking you, just saying the disparity in culture is pretty large.

He wasn't fired FOR having the affair. He was fired because he put Arkansas in a couple of legal binds:

1) He hired his mistress over hundreds of other applicants - those other applicants could have sued and Arkansas would have looked terrible in the suit had they taken no corrective action against Petrino.

2) Keeping him on would have set a terrible standard that it was okay to lie to the AD, the police, and the fans. Anyone else they tried to fire for ethical violations subsequent to letting Petrino stay would have had a case against Arky by highlighting the double standard.

Arkansas had to fire him. He did it to them/himself.

Any school that hires him now does so without setting the legal precedent that keeping him on would have set at Arky and without the lawsuits Arky would have invited. Completely different legal story for a new school.
