IMO, Freeze needs to win more games and make it to Atlanta in the next 2-3 years.

If he doesn't, he will have trouble continuing the recruiting momentum of the past 2 years

I don't mean this harshly (actually I do) but you have to face facts. Ole Miss is one of the toilet bowls of the SEC. They have been for over 50 years now. Other than 2003, Ole Miss hasn't come close to winning the West. How the hell does a coach, who has never been the head coach at a top tier school mind you, come in to a school like that and immediately recruit all of those five stars to Oxford in the same class?

Color me skeptical, but I'm fairly certain some improprieties went down in some of those kids' recruitments. I have no sources. That's just my opinion.

So let me get this straight.. You are proposing that Ole Miss bought players away from UGA and Alabama? Are you stupid or something? If it all came down to money, then Ole Miss wouldn't stand a chance against UT, Bama, UGA, LSU, Florida, etc... We had a few connections and a great recruiting staff. Did we also pay? I'm sure we did, but don't act like Bama and UGA didn't try and buy...

Connor was the only recruit in the top 5 from MS that you picked up last year.

Going by the 247 Composite Connor, Kailo Moore and Buchannan were 3 of the top 5 in Mississippi last year sooo...

State has gotten the top recruit out of MS the past two years.

Couldn't find the official 247/Composite ranking but according to Paul Jones Channing Ward was the top recruit in MS in 2012 and he's obviously busting at OM as we speak (as is #2 Quay Evans at State ).

Also, 4-5 of the top players from the state in 2014 are committed to us. So yeah Hugh has done a really good job in MS.

How do you figure?

According to 247, 4 of the top 5 guys from MS in this year's class are currently committed to Ole Miss.

The other is committed to Auburn.

We also have Isaac Gross and Anthony Alford from that top 5 from 2012. Just wanted to point that out if they didn't click on the link.

Not originally, but still he's ours now and should be a badass.

Yeah, I saw that. Wasn't gonna consider Alford considering we didn't get him out of HS

True

and Morgan we just got straight up beat by Bryan Kelly

No, we got beat by Morgan's mother, who wanted her son to attend an "academically prestigious" school, ideally one close to home--Notre Dame fit the bill on both those counts and Ole Miss just didn't.

If it had been entirely up to Nyles, he would be playing in Oxford next season.

On the other hand, the only reason we got Markell Pack away from FSU was HIS mother's insistence that he attend Ole Miss, so the Mama thing cuts both ways.

Chris Jones was hands down the best player in MS last year, Aeris Williams is this year. Buchanan and Moore will both be lucky to ever see the field, I wouldn't consider either of them top 5 in the state, and I don't think scout did either.

I honestly don't follow 247, scout tends to be pretty accurate so I just use them. I'll agree that Moore was a good pick up, but when it comes down to him vs. Shumpert I'll take Shump and I think most will agree. If you haven't seen Aeris play you should, kid is a beast.

Ole Miss has sooo much potential to become an SEC power.

such as what? they will never have as much to sell as Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, or Texas A&M.
compared to those 7:
winning tradition? no
facilities? no
fanbase? no
money? no

Ole Miss has the potential to make a bowl game most years and compete for a division title once or twice a decade. They just do not have the resources to be a perennial power, and never will. That's not a knock on Hugh Freeze or anything he's been doing because he seems to be doing all the right things to keep Ole Miss respectable and competitive. It's just a harsh reality that a small school in a small state like MS with no winning tradition has to live with.
