No.... because bama plays those rent-a-wins every year, just like everyone else.

Not in 2020, the year being talked about. They played 11 SEC Teams and 2 other P5 teams.

At least you guys got to score all those TDs in front of the cardboard cutouts! What a special season!

It was a wonderful achievement. Alabama didn't even have the support of its fans and still dominated. I had never thought of that as another indicator of their excellence until you mentioned it. Thanks, bro.

Which is why I believe, personally, that Bama easily edges out '95 Nebraska, who had a rent and win and many sub-par teams in 95 which gave them such a poor strength of schedule.

Pacific, Arizona State (6-5), Iowa State (3-8), Missouri (3-8), Michigan State (6-5-1), Washington State (3-8-0), Oklahoma (5-5-1)

Kent State, Samford, and Georgia Tech denied the application by the University of Georgia for that honor. Sorry.

15 wins is the bar right now. If your team didn't make it you're not in contention.

Sorry.

but feel free to pick LSU or Clemson if you prefer their 15 win seasons over UGA. I picked LSU myself.

They played 4 teams who ended the season ranked in the top10, and blew out an undefeated Florida team with a Heisman winning QB in the bowl game 62-24.

You know, all the teams you cherry picked out.

2010 Auburn. Beat y’all despite being cheated by the whole SEC.

2020 Bama offense could have competed against some NFL defenses. Best offense I've ever seen in modern times. The 2nd string was in by most half times.

Yes, but as the years roll on, it is not at all as certain as it used to be that this 4 to 5 game season that Nebraska had in '95 is still the gold standard, undisputed best college football team.

Yes, that is barely winning a ball game.

But it's funny because I remember LSU fans claiming a 5 point win was a dominating win, so maybe it's just that you all have low standards.

If the other team literally never has a chance to win, what can you say?

You could literally say that LSU eked out a 5 point win by the skin of their teeth. Is that the right answer?

You could but that'd be fairly dishonest considering they were never in danger of losing the game.

But a team is always in danger of losing a game if they only have a 5 point lead towards the end of a game. That is how numbers work, even in Louisiana.

Pretty hard to lose a game when you're taking knees at midfield, up by 5.

All the other team can do is sit and watch.

You can't compare the teams of today to the teams of then. If you play by 1995 rules, half the teams on any modern day football team would be out and injured in the first half. Devonta Smith is pretty damn awesome, but it's unlikely he finishes the 1st quarter by 1995 rules.

And then if you play by modern rules, Nebraska has no chance. They'll be getting penalties for the way they play half the time.

Almost 50% of their schedule was against top10 teams. That's as much as any modern day schedule. It's basically impossible to compare SoS directly because everything is relative. But it's obvious that what Nebraska did was not due to having an easy schedule.

So what you are left with is how much did a team dominate the competition in any given year. And the best metric I know is margin of victory. And I not aware of any team in history that dominated every team they played in college football like 1995 Nebraska(on a qualifying schedule strength). I obviously wish it was 2020 Alabama, and they came close.

1971 Nebraska is up pretty high as well, but they had a game where they only won by 4(vs Oklahoma, their only loss of the year). Beat the shite out of undefeated Alabama in the bowl game by over 30 points. That was often the team considered the GOAT before 1995.

Some of those SEC teams in 2020 couldn't have beaten the non-conferense that LSU played in 2019.
