Last night was one of those juju nights where strange things happened. KY went down, AU almost lost to a USA team, UT trailed Murray for most of the game, Mizzou took the Xmen to OT. I got to see the end of the KY loss. I figured the Eville team would jumping and shaking their balls at the UK crowd, but they acted like it was not big deal and so did their coach. Anybody have an extra point guard we can borrow. We have one but he manages to create turnovers for himself and can't hit FT's....Not a damn one last did he make. I'll rewatch the UK game to see what happened, but at the end of that game you could hear only silence from the crowd. It may have been the inconsistent play of their freshmen, but hell, AU's freshmen saved the day and played like seniors and our seniors played like freshmen

Those are decent teams.

USA is the only team I believe to return all 5 starters and would beat several sec teams.

Evansville is decent

Murray state had a lottery pick last year and is a consistent program.

Xavier is a borderline top 15 team.

All five returning starters averaged 14.0+ ppg last year.

I expected Auburn to lose going in, tbh

Same. Auburn was only favored by 7.5? Last I checked.

Are they though? Because they went 11-21 in a one-bid MVC last year and were picked 3rd to last this year.

Evansville is a very unselfish team, with numerous guys that can hit shots.

Wish more teams were like that. Just move the ball and get the best shot.

"Despite the loss of a handful of regular contributors, South Alabama returns three double-digit scorers and brings in four eligible transfers with Division I experience. And that has expectations growing very quickly in Mobile."

Key Departed Players:
Rodrick Sikes, Guard, 12.1 ppg
R.J. Kelly, Forward, 4.4 ppg
Kory Holden, Guard, 10.4 ppg

Jordan Andrews, Guard, 4.1 ppg
Abdul Dial, Guard, 2.6 ppg

Key Returning Players:
Josh Ajayi, Senior, Forward, 16.4 ppg
Trhae Mitchell, Senior, Forward, 13.6 ppg
Herb McGee, Senior, Guard, 10.0 ppg

John Pettway, Junior, Guard, 4.3 ppg
Kevin Morris, Senior, Forward, 1.4 ppg

Key New Players:
Don Coleman, Senior, Guard, Transfer from Cal
KK Curry, Freshman, Forward
Andre Fox, Senior, Guard, Transfer from High Point
A.C. Kelly, Freshman, Guard
Tyreke Locure, Freshman, Guard
Chad Lott, Senior, Guard, Grad Transfer from Howard
Adam Sizere, Freshman, Guard
Deaundrae Ballard, Junior, Forward, Transfer from Florida, not eligible
Sam Iorio, Junior, Forward, Transfer from American, not eligible

They didn't return 5, but I believe the optimism for them is based on the 3 returning guys mixed with significant transfers who practiced all last season. I was impressed last night with their athleticism. The refs let it go in the 2nd half and they played aggressively and made a great run at Auburn.

We also have a lot of talent, but we don't have the leadership we had last season. We also don't have the guys that can hit free throws late to keep an 8-10 point lead in tack as a team tries to make a run. I believe we will have a few highs this season and a few scratch your head lows, but in the end I do expect us to be a tournament team.

South Alabama does not return 5 starters. They return 3. The transfers are not returning starters. One of last years starters is now coming off the bench. I think once the transfers mesh with the returning players, they will be dangerous.

They are already dangersous. The inside guys are athletic and can play bigger than their size. The outside guys can get to the rim...they didn't shoot it well last night but statistically speaking they should shoot it well from deep.

Refs certainly did not hurt Auburn in the first half. I was there. Great game. Great atmosphere. I have nothing but respect for Bruce Pearl. Unlike Alabama, he plays other state schools. Pearl really did alot to give South Alabama great exposure last night.

I think Auburn relaxed a bit when it was 61-47. I told my friend that this will be a 20 point loss for the Jags at that point. I was really impressed with Auburn’s discipline at the end. That last possession Auburn wanted it more.

Mizzou turned the ball over 20x, shot 33% from the field and their only post presence played 2 mns in the first half and they managed to take a solid team on the road to OT. And honestly, Mizzou should have beaten them in regulation. Defense travels, and Mizzou definitely plays defense. No such thing as a moral victory, but I think Mizzou is trending up.

I think Mizzou will be the most improved team this year fwiw.
