Hhmmmm seems like since Auburn is being held hostage in the SECw this might be an option for playing Tennessee and Florida more often and a nice to the SEC/Bama Offices

non-conference?

Yes. It would be considered a non-conference game and would therefore not affect either teams conference status.

I think the SEC forbid this following realignment

I wonder what the SEC office would think of a proposal for us to play Vandy twice a year.

That's the problem tough. It's not a second game. It's the only time the two teams get to play each other those years, which flies in the face of more than 100 years of tradition.

I'm a little perplexed on how this is even possible. I know teams have control of who they play out of their assigned conference schedule, but isn't it just silly to play another team within the conference and call it a non-conference game?

I get they're in separate divisions, and the game won't count to their conference standings, but could neither team really find a true non-conference team to play, one actually not in their conference?

SC would've gladly setup another series with unc, they've been dodging us for years.

Cal and Utah played a "non conference game" when both of them were in the Pac12. Was scheduled before expansion

Soooo switch Auburn/Mizzou and have Bama/UT do this? Makes georgraphical sense and keeps that rivalry going.

Although that would mean the Gamecocks have to play Auburn every year who we literally cannot beat.

It's the loss of traditional rivalries and games that have been played for generations all for the sake of realignment and tv revenue. Has nothing to do with not wanting to play another Power 5 team.

Hit the nail on the head. Have an upvote, sir.

And this is an elegant solution to the Bama/Auburn/UGA/Tenn predicament.

Why would Bama not want to get credit for whipping up on Tennessee every year?

No no it isn't.

The solution is move Alabama and Auburn to the east and move Vandy and Missouri west. This solves the rivalry issues and makes things more geographically correct.
There is no need for any SEC school to have this type of abortion of a schedule.

That's only the solution for LSU and aTm.

That's not the correct solution.

I like this, but it would make the West charmin soft.

The real news here is that these OOC games open up the annual UK-LSU game again. Prepare thy anus, tigahs.

Well since aTm can't seem to beat LSU, you could go ahead and pencil them into Atlanta each year
