Yea because when I think of Country clubs I think of Arkansas.
McRebel needs to clarify how those schools made it.

Okay these I chose who:
Alabama
Georgia
Ole Miss
• All have a very Greek population and try to exude the frat persona to the "'nth" degree.
• They have good teams for country club sports.
• Don't primarily deal military/agricultural fields attend more to the technical ones like Law/Medical/Accounting/Business
• Flag Ship institutions
• Founding Members
Florida
• Field good Country Club teams as well
• Don't fit the mold as much as much as the prior but seem to enjoy similar facets as previous.
• Don't primarily deal military/agricultural fields attend more to the technical ones like Law/Medical/Accounting/Business
• Flag Ship institutions
South Carolina
Vanderbilt
• Both sport the classic fraty some what hipster persona
• Don't primarily deal military/agricultural fields attend more to the technical ones like Law/Medical/Accounting/Business
• Enjoy and attend Country Clubs events with enthusiasm, Carolina - Horse Races, Golf; Vandy - Horse Races
All other schools fall into Military/Agricultural/Engineering category or as hill toppers or mountain folk.

The DC market is the same as Northern VA. You bring UVA or Tech, you bring the DC market. Tons of alumni in that area.

Other than yhe DC TV market I have a friend who was talking SEC expansion and he said he is hearing serious talk that Virginia will join the SEC along with another ACC school as soon as the 2014 season. My question is WHY? UVA has a good baseball program, average basketball program and below average football team I just don't see them as a good fit
It's about adding new TV markets, nothing more. Quit trying to search for any other reasons.

I know that, but in terms money for TV contracts for SEC Network, BIG Network, Pac 12 network they pay by the subscribers in the state, not bordering states or cities.

Kentucky has strong tennis
Kentucky won polo championship against Virginia like 2 years ago
Kentucky has Keeneland and Churchill Downs
Kentucky was a founding member - first SEC president was from UK
Kentucky is the flagship tho it did start out as a private school
Kentucky has a law school, an engineering school. a medical school, and the Patterson School of Diplomacy
Kentucky has the Boone Tennis Center and University Club of Kentucky
Kentucky has its own country club in Spindletop Hall (no golf at this club that is open to faculty, staff, and alumni)

UVA and UNC would be no-brainers, and in my guess they are the primary targets of the SEC.
No offense to the Aggies, but I always saw them as a close second to Texas. A very close second, but still second.
I think the SEC wants/needs to land the premier school in whatever state they expand to, this time around. Virginia Tech is not that school, nor is NC State.

So does Penn State.
Don't think this is all about the size of the Greek Population

But I have a question for VA fans here, what is the feeling that Virginia wants to go to B1G, Stay in ACC or go to SEC?
Most would say, stay in ACC as it is, go to the SEC, and then go BIG. No one thinks we fit in with the BIG schools other than academics.

Oh and great thread. I appreciate arguments from both sides. I think UVA would be a fantastic addition but I have a hard time seeing it happen. we will see

I'd argue that Mizzou belongs in this crew, as we have one of, if not the highest median income in the SEC.
Our university also has the largest Greek system in the region, and one of the largest in the nation.
Our country clubs also play host to multiple PGA and ATP tour events.

You mean twice what Duke's stadium holds? Cause half would make Duke's hold 124,000 people.
