Tyler Campbell (Turners replacement at 3rd) has been tremendous has not had a drop off at all from what X was go of us to be honest. Been awesome to see him perform this well.

Monday - Walker Buehler (been our best pitcher last two-three weeks) hope it continues
Tuesday - Tyler Beede (been struggling but his talent is undeniable might come out and throw a CG might fall apart in 2 innings)
Wednesday - all hands on deck (Stone and Fulmer should be able to throw a few innings by then as well)

The Tuesday game will probably be our day of reckoning. That is when I project Beede will start. Beede has an amazing fast ball and is a Major League player. But Beede has lost all confidence in his command of the ball as exhibited in his last outing. If he is on watch out, if he is not he will be yanked quickly which will likely give rise to a bullpen replacement strong on talent but short on game day experience.

Agreed with everything above. Fulmer would have likely gone Monday if he hadn't pitched yesterday. As it is, it's probably Buehler, Beede, then ?. I don't think Fulmer would have been rested enough to start, but you might see him in short relief. I could see Ferguson or J. miller.

I actually think Beede goes Monday with Buehler on Tuesday.

I was wrong. Corbin announces that Buehler starts tonight, Beede tomorrow.

It's amazing to see how far this team has gotten this postseason when you think about how little contribution they have received from their weekend starters at the beginning of the season that were supposed to carry them.

Beede had a great start against Xavier but couldn't get out of the 5th against Stanford and couldn't get out of the 4th against Irvine. Jared Miller was replaced in mid April and relegated to mop up duty and has pitched 0.2 innings this postseason. Tyler Ferguson has pitched 3.1 innings in 2 games this postseason giving up 2 runs and couldn't get out of the second on Friday against Texas.

ETA: It is odd. Our starters dominated regional play, but have been shaky ever since. Meanwhile, our bullpen has been phenomenal.

Thanks for the responses.

I hear that Buhler is pitching tonight against our normal 'Friday' night starter Nathan Kirby.

Should be a doozy.

Can't wait.

I think the series is going to be determined by how well Beede pitches. If he can go deep into Game 2 and give you solid 6-7 innings so that you're not as dependant on the rest of your semi-tired staff, then it really sets you up to win one.

I agree. The better Beede pitches, the better our chances of winning this thing.

Five in this thread alone now. You must have missed the one a few months back where I think all 8 or so of the normal Vandy faces showed up in one thread. It was incredible.

As for the pitching, I was pretty confident Ferris would get the start tonight. He has been consistent and solid the past few weeks. Recent form gives much more confidence in a win with him starting instead of Beede. A win tonight would take a ton of pressure off Beede for Tuesday which might allow him to shake his recent issues.

If Wednesday is necessary, I would definitely expect to see Fulmer start, but he would likely be on a short leash if he starts showing signs of fatigue or the pitch count starts rising.
