You don't play by the buzzer you play by the clock. Shot CLOCK. Giftwrapped.

Seriously, it's like some people have no concept of the rules of sports. A light and a buzzer that go off have NOTHING to do with the game, it's when the CLOCK hits 0.

The same way that the scoreboard itself doesn't mean shite, all that matters is the official scorebook. I don't care if the buzzer didn't sound, the shot clock was out. We got fricking hosed on our home court. Unbelievable.

The shot clock is just like the play clock in football. When it hits 0 there is still a full second on the clock.

Seconds, tenths of seconds
00.9

The shot clock is too small to show them though.

Do you realize how close it was?

It's easy to pick out one bad call when it's at the end of the game. Bad calls went both ways all game.

UT - W, UGA - L...You'll get another shot at us in Knoxville, and maybe in the NIT.

I'll take SEC road wins anytime I can get them. Tennessee now 10-1 vs. UGA in the Bruce Pearl era.

ETA: Whether a shot got off before the shot clock is not reviewable, ref has to be absolutely positive. No way he could have been positive on that one with his naked eye.

This game simply isn't THAT big of a deal. Its early in conference play. We still have another shot to beat them in Knoxville. Yes, it was ridiculous, but thats how the game goes.

Whether he's sure or not doesn't change the fact that those points shouldn't have counted. Should've been an offensive foul for a pushoff. You stole one UT. This is the most pissed I've been over refs in a long time. Absolutely terrible.

This game is a huge deal. We need every win possible if we want to make the tournament, and with our road record under Fox it's crucial to hold serve at home. I wouldn't really care if we lost to a better team like Duke or something, but Tennessee is not better than us.

Higher RPI and a head to head win on the road for the Vols.

You'd have a tough time arguing UGA is better than Tennessee.

UT is better than most teams when they want to be better. The thing is they don't play that way most of the time.

did the rule used to be that the ball had to hit the rim before the end of the shot clock? I thought that was the case . The leaving the hands only counts on the game clock? However, I felt as though that one was only one of a few where it was quite questionable that UT got the ball off before the shot clock.

I'll be shocked if we do beat UT in knoxville. Which is why this one at home was so important.

You've beaten some good teams and lost to some bad teams. The way y'all were given the game tonight, I think I'd have a pretty easy time arguing that UGA is better than UT.

I see what you mean.

Tennessee beats UGA on the road.

UGA > Tennessee

Beating anyone on the road in conference play is tough. I don't see how a clear superior team could have been picked after this game.

Tennessee with wins over Nova, Pitt, Memphis, Vandy, and head to head @ UGA, along with a higher RPI and better SOS than UGA. UGA's obviously better.

FWIW, I would also be shocked if Tennessee beat UGA in Knoxville. Tennessee has only beaten UGA by a combined 80 points in five meetings at home since Pearl arrived.
