Fair enough, but Dooley recruited 3 o lineman in his whole time at ut, even knowing going into his final year he had an all upperclassmen offensive line. He also required former players to call and ask permission to attend practices, and a lot of time he ignored their calls completely. Tied with Missouri at home with a minute left on the clock and one of the best statistical offenses in our entire history, he elected to kneel the ball and trust our defense (the worst one since 1902) in overtime. We lost that game. The followng game, at Vanderbilt, his players retaliated by not giving a shite and losing to Vanderbilt. 44-41. They ignored dooleys calls and were blatantly disrespectful to him the whole game. He got fired, and when our interim coach won the next game at Kentucky, the players carried him off the field. Before that we had kiffin, who bailed 2 weeks before signing day. The one class he signed was ranked pretty high, but he told taj Boyd(who was commited to UT) and Bo Wallace to look elsewhere. Out of his recruiting class, only 3 or 4 played significant minutes at UT.

Also we consistently have one of the hardest schedules in the country

UT fans, let's talk Butch Jones. quote: To be fair, the situation that butch inherited was unlike anything Saban or Mullen had to deal with Are you stoned or something Mullin replaced Sly Croom, now let that sink in for a moment. Sly replaced Jackie who had mailed it in for various reasons the previous 4 years. From 2001 until Mullin arrived we went 28-65. Butch has a cakewalk compared to what Mullin walked into.
And how long has mullin been there?

the conversation was about year two bowls but 6 years now total

I think Butch can still get to a bowl. We should've played a cupcake rather than Oklahoma. It would have gave us a better chance

Stay. The. frick. Away. From. Drew. Richmond.
But in all seriousness, wish y'all the best of luck except for direct recruiting battles. Phillips, Amadi, Richmond, just let it happen.

And 'Bama still had plenty of holdovers from a ten-win season under Shula from only a couple of seasons prior to Saban taking the helm.
The biggest thing Saban inherited was a QB. John Parker Wilson may not have been the best QB we've seen, but he ended up being a pretty darn good SEC QB who came very close to winning a national championship.

Last year: nation's toughest schedule - no returning skills players except RB. This year: #2 toughest schedule with no returning linemen and more true freshmen playing than anyone in the country. Defense is currently top 20 nationally. Offense is 113th - might have something to do with those linemen we've been bitching about.
Over 22 true freshmen playing (youngest team in CFB), not a single returning starter on either defensive or offensive line and on and on. Even so, the only thing missing on this team is an OL which is no one's fault but Dooley's (the guy who recruited ZERO linemen). With an OL this team is scary good but without one it is what it is and Nick Saban, Bear Bryant, and General Neyland combined into one mega-coach couldn't do a damn thing about it.
This is the SEC - a conference where the game is played in the trenches and we're searching for warm bodies just to stick there because of the last guy. No other team in the country had to replace both lines and we've had to do it without linemen!

We don't need too. Last year our schedule was #1 in toughness and this year it's ranked #2 by Sagarin (that will change to #1 next week with Bama factored in).

Ole Miss is a squirrel finding a nut this year after a half century of futility. The Vols will be fine recruiting Tennessee long term. They are Tennessee. You are Ole Miss. Don't ever forget that runts.

Zero rushing yards against Ole' Miss. How is that even possible? Just fall forward a few times and you get positive yards.
That is a major coaching issue.
Since Jones appears to be a good recruiter, maybe he will get a chance to replace his offensive staff and save his job. UT will have to offer up big $$$ to get a quality OC and positions staff to right the ship.
It's not an accurate representation of the running game. We had 100 yards rushing. However, sacks are factored into the total to come up with no yardage.

Yep. I wish more people understood that. As well as it's impact on the offense. You can't even playcall with a line as bad as ours. It effects everything.
I want to tar and feather the man and parade him through the streets of Knoxville every time I see this line play.
What's worse is that while it will be better next year, it won't really be fixed until at least one more cycle of recruits. We are 2 YEARS BEHIND on oline development and recruiting because of him.

I will say the same thing about Jones as I say about all coaches. You need a QB. I mean, we're Arkansas. For all the shite I talk I understand our limitations recruiting wise. I'm patient with our shite show of a QB. Who is actually better than your shite show of a QB lol. And that's saying something because our QB sucks worse than a pornstar in a blow bang.
How the frick do you take 48 recruits lol and still are starting fricking justin worley at QB lol? you're tennessee.
If I have learned anything following college football, I don't give a frick what your recruiting ranking is, i fyou don't have a competent QB. I would much rather have a top 20 class and a Bo Wallace type QB than have a top 3 class with Jeff Driskel at QB.
You need a QB. Your QB sucks balls. If Worley is your QB next year, Jones will be packing

You don't want to know the list of QBs Kiffin-Dooley turned away or sent packing. Names like: Bryce Petty, Tajh Boyd, Cam Newton, and Bo Wallace are among them.
Worley has reverted badly since the UGA game - he had a great first few games, including that one but hasn't done anything since. Of course, he also has been sacked more times than potatoes at an Idaho farm and hit or hurried even more. However, he won't be QB next year because Dooley burnt his redshirt for no reason (down 40+ pts. against Bama he sent him in for the last 5 minutes).
Dobbs will be QB next year. We're also bringing in 3 QBs this class - Dormady, Jennings, and I forget the other guy's name.

I never realized just how bad Dooley was, wow. I knew he did some good things with Louisiana Tech.
I thought I questioned some of Les Miles antics
