We will see if it actually is fixed or if he's Les Miles swearing that he's fixed the offense year in and year out.
I know there were many frustrated Tigers with the Mad Hatter's offenses but..... didn't he have a decent average margin of victory? Do you attribute more of that to more dominate defenses?
espn 2011 lsu
According to espn abovem 2011 LSU averaged 38.5 ppg and had 500 points for the season. That's over 40 ppg against teams not named Alabama that season.
I'm not saying like him or don't, and offenses have changed drastically throughout cfb since. But statistically, it seemed he spent a lot of time working on things that weren't always broke. I'm not the fan of the team, I only cared whether Alabama won or lost that game.

Miles came into the conference with a lot of balls and was willing to take chances early on in his tenure. In 2008, we went through the Jarrett Lee pick 6 season and his a-hole puckered up after that. He figured out that he could run a basic offensive scheme, run off tackle for most of the game and "out talent" most of the teams in the SEC with a good defense on the other side. He could win 9-10 games a year and keep his job. The problem was that wasn't good enough to beat the top tier teams most years. We had the talent to run a more balanced offense and he just refused to do it. That is what was so frustrating.

We still have a lot of deficiencies on the defensive side of the ball, particularly at DT and DB. We are starting to recruit better on that side of the ball now that he has hired a new defensive staff, but I don't expect LSU to challenge for a conference championship this season.

Man a school like lsu seems like it would have no trouble picking up massive talent on the line...after bama/Dawgs, it seems like it could be a royal rumble for the rest of the conference.

We've had a revolving door at DL coach the past several years. Last year our DL coach was diagnosed with a serious illness right before the season started. He couldn't coach or recruit and it cost us on both fronts. We had to bring in 82 year old Pete Jenkins as an analyst just to try and put together a serviceable DL. Now that we've hired Bo Davis and Kevin Peoples things are trending up in recruiting.
