I'm not entirely sure he will. I wouldn't be surprised if he does, but his career is salvageable at this point.

this makes no sense. he actually quit twice because of his health. so he's going to get back in and risk his health? i'm not sure i believe the meeting was about him being interested in the coaching position. sometimes, ad's ask coaches to get their opinion about someone the coach knows.

Would have to agree with this post. Probably Nutt.

True it would be one of the least stressful SEC jobs but I still don't think he would take it. He's been to and won four BCS bowl games at two different schools. I imagine he is going to want to coach somewhere where he can win big again as well.

That's just not going to happen at OM as long as Bama and LSU are still rolling. Arkansas is having our best back-to-back seasons in over 20 years and we still aren't going to even win the West much less the whole conference. I just don't see Urban coming in to that situation which is why I see other conferences as a better fit for him.

He can win big at a Pac-12 or Big-10 school with his system without having to kill himself on the recruiting trail day in and day out like you have to do in the SEC.

The guy just said that he will be at OSU next year. He isn't as dumb as the OP. Chill

Don't know why it is so out of the question at this point. If Archie can get Meyer to sit down with him, there's a lot to sell. Oxford is a nice place, expectations aren't high, pay would be high, and money is being raised to bowl in the stadium. If the HC job was indeed what he was talking about with the AD, then there's no reason to think he wouldn't hear us out.

The whole "This football system won't work in that conference" argument is a crock of horseshite.

When Meyer was hired at Florida people were saying that the stuff he ran at Utah wouldn't cut it in the SEC. Keep that in mind.

I don't even think it is a possibility to hire him. I really have a gut feeling that we will land Larry Fedora. Good thing about him becoming head coach.....is we would more than likely keep Gunter Brewer at least. They worked together at Oklahoma State.

Because he would be competing against Miles, Saban, Petrino, Malzahn every year while being at a huge disadvantage cuz he's at a lesser program.

How long would it stay a "lesser" program. Would his name help him recruit both players and assistant coaches. It is still an SEC program you know.

If he were going to coach in the SEC he would have stayed at Florida before his fake heart attack. I think if he coaches again it will be at OSU or PSU.

OM should get an up and coming coach IMO, not a coach that has proven to have no success without Strong/Mullen.

Would make for a nice rivalry between Mullen and Urby, though.

I think Urban would be a good fit in the Big 10, it would be different than RichRod coaching in Michigan, with Urban actually being a good coach and all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on Oxford. But joining the SEC West right now would be a stupid move for an established coach. You're more likely to get an up and comer who knows that posting a .500 SEC record in two years would look stellar.

If you think Urban Meyer would even slightly consider coaching at Ole Miss then you need to get your head checked. I think he would laugh Archie off the phone

Don't worry, if he doesn't take it I'm sure ya'll can just fall back on Pete Carroll or something.
