Morris wasn't all that at SMU.
He hasn't done well here so far, but this isn't really accurate. His record looks bad because he started from literal rock bottom there. SMU was 1-11 when he got there. In his first full year they were 2-10, followed by a 5-7 season and finally a 7-5 season and a bowl appearance. Say what you want about his tenure at Arkansas, he's earned it. But taking 1-11 to a bowl in 3 years while obviously setting up his successor to succeed is a job that deserves credit.

I'll give Bert credit, under him Hogs were a tough, physical football team.

No they were not. They were a 6 win team with decent qb play at times. What we see now are the impacts of his lack of recruiting talent to that program.

We should have won more than we did under him in 14-15 for sure. Had a QB who is still in the NFL, two RBs that were drafted, a Mackey award winning TE and two others who were drafted, biggest OL in football including a first round pick center, and in 2014 had a top 10 defense led by Trey Flowers and Martrell Spaight, who led the SEC in tackles.

The defense was great in 2014 and the offense was great in 2015 but he could never have both in the same year.
