You know, it seems like more guys commit suicide over a girl than girls over a guy. I've seen it both ways, but more guys.
After a breakup, a girls friends will sit with her while she cries, baby her, make sure she eats, then in a couple of days get her butt out of the bed and on the town. Guys don't seem to talk about it like girls do, it all stays in their head. Then they get shitfaced and find a one night stand. This guy needs to talk to someone - friends, family, a professional.

I was gonna say it seems the same way.
most girls that do it seem to be highschool aged and do it because they are picked on.

In all my years of seeing women dump a guy, beers between two dudes and shooting the shite seems the best way clear the air and get someone thinking clearly. Not to get drunk but use it as a bonding agent.... seen it work in the military more often then not....

my wife told me a guy she went to high school with got dumped by his girlfriend last week and was so upset he went to her apartment, knocked on the door and when she answered he shot himself in the head.

Yeah, and high school girls can be vicious with the bullying and making fun. By the time they get to college, that kinda dies down a little. Girls start saying what they think rather than going along, and standing up for themselves better.
I had an ex threaten to kill himself when I ended it, and it scared me to death. I took him to a hospital - and was told it was a manipulation tactic to get me to stay. Needless to say, I ran and didn't look back.
