This happened to UGA last year.
Yeah, which sucked, but was also when the playoff was only 4 teams.
Admittedly I'm not sure who UGA should have gotten in over last year. Two teams were undefeated, one had the same record and had beaten UGA and the other had the same record and had beaten the same team that beat UGA.
But yes, your point is valid - and in an expanded playoff (like 6) there's no reason to leave them out.

Ole Miss and Tennessee will have 6 comparable games at year end
Ole Miss (3-1) +59 + Florida + Miss State
Tennessee (3-2) +26 + Vanderbilt
I'd give the nod to Ole Miss assuming both win out.

I would definitely call Ole Miss's win in Columbia over the Gamecocks a good win. Held them to 3 points, and USC is a good offensive team. Who knows what the committee will do when it comes to 'fine-tuning?' And I have nothing against Tennessee. I didn't go to any SEC school. But the fact that Ole Miss beat Georgia and Tennessee couldn't should count for something. If Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia all win out, they should all get playoff spots. If a fifth bid is out there come selection time, I'd give it to Tennessee if they win out.

Ole Miss didn't beat Tennessee, but I think they should play on 12/7
Winner goes to the playoffs

I think the fact that Tennessee beat Kentucky and Ole Miss couldn’t should also count for something

Ole Miss’s losses are so much worse than the other two-loss SEC teams
