MY EXACT THOUGHT! Strange huh?

But honestly, I question why so many Auburn fans live in Georgia. I can understand Atlanta considering there is about every fanbase imaginable that is supported there, but outside of Atlanta AU fans are also around. I know for a fact they all didn't move from Alabama.

quote:Look at the location of the Auburn campus - only 30 miles from the state line. A lot of people from Georgia (especially the metro area) go to Auburn because it is close to home. I live just about smack in the middle of Atlanta and I can get to Auburn in about an hour and 45 minutes. Add to that a lot of AU grads end up with jobs on this side of the river after they are done with school. For a long time if you had a dog or a cat in metro Atlanta, there was about a 90% chance your vet had gone to AU.

Also, for a while (not sure if it is still true), if you lived out of state, but were within a certain number of miles (say 50) from the Auburn campus, you could go to Auburn and pay Alabama in state tuition. That 50 mile radius covered Lagrange and down toward Pine Mountain so it made it a very powerful draw to kids out of that area.

I am a little late to this party, but for me it is Florida, then Tech. But if Tech starts winning more, that would change. I am in my 30s, so when we play Clemson, it is a buzzworthy out of conference game, an old rival back on the schedule, but nothing more than that. South Carolina is a burr under the saddle that seems to be a difficult, but not a major rival.
Auburn is a game I like to win, but losing to them doesnt suck as bad as the others, or even UT.

i think our rivals go arky, ole miss, tulane and bama, but you could consider prolly florida auburn right there in that mix and we really should get back to playing texas a&m again.... i would like to see some sort of rivalry with texas play them every year

Alot of Tennessee fans talk crap about Georgia, especially those who live there, but I personally don't care about them one way or the other. Richt seems like a nice enough fellow, and I've not had many problems with Georgia fans. They're okay.

Its mainly a rivalry to the older generation of Georgia fans.
As is most of the UGA hate from the Gamecock nation (seeing has they have played 61 times including every year since like '66). Im in college myself so as a younger guy who was born pre-Gamecock SEC days, but not by enough to what the hell the SEC was.. all my hate always has and always will go to Clemson. I actually dont mind UGA at all.. just consider them another big game opponent that I want to beat purely for an SEC win.
Which I think is why now a lot of Gamecock fans do stress the UGA game more so the Clemson game for the sake of it means more than just who is the best team in the state of SC.. its a battle of the SEC east.

For most LSU fans I know, Arkansas is not the first name that comes up when someone says "who are LSU's rivals." For anyone who went to LSU before the 1980s, the first name that comes to mind with the word "rival" is Ole Miss, then probably Tulane (just because it's Tulane), then Texas A&M, then Alabama, then Florida.
Rice hasn't had "rival" status in my memory, even though we played them every year for many years.
Since the divisions were created, Auburn seems to have moved to the front of the line for many LSU fans, but that may fade if Auburn slides. LSU and Auburn played only every few years before division play, and until Tubby came to Auburn there tended not to be much ill-feeling or feelings of rivalry towards Auburn. Tubby was the single biggest factor in the development of the Auburn-LSU rivalry. With Tubby's departure, it remains to be seen if the rivalry will remain as intense.
Saban's arrival at Bama has infused the LSU-Bama rivalry with some emotion that hasn't been there before, but prior to Saban's arrival, there wasn't traditionally a strong feeling of rivalry with Bama.
If Nutt is successful at Ole Miss, that rivalry will quickly intensify, since it is the rivalry that has the richest tradition for LSU. The sense of rivalry with Ole Miss faded after Archie's time at Ole Miss since the stakes weren't as high in the game thereafter.
Texas A&M is a rivalry that many LSU fans would like to see revived.

Yeah I think this rivalry will get better in the next few years.

I wish they would bring this one back. These were fun games to watch.
As for UGA fans, they are mostly good people. Hell all my inlaws are UGA fans

Anyway actually going to Athens on Friday for the baseball series
