OK, too easy but which game was he suspended for? He was probably just resting a tweaked ankle for Eastern North Dakota State.

That seems harsh. What did Cro get?

Also, most of the arrests are for bullchit reasons.

Pretty much. They get drunk in public, drive on a suspended license, etc. Richt evidently doesn't have a good relationship with the Athens PD though, because if he did that shite would be swept under the rug and the transgressors would pay for their crimes after practice.

I'm starting to wonder if rather than put in extra behind-the-scenes work busting their asses, he just suspends them

yep. It's all about almost getting creative with it. Game suspensions should be more seldom used than they are at UGA. Alot of the stuff should be dealt with by extra conditioning work.

Well, the only things not mediocre about our program (with respect to the Bamas and LSUs of the conference) are our facilities and ecruiting classes. Fan support? Meh. Student support? Meh. Money invested into the program? MEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH.

I don't think it's so much that Richt doesn't have a good relationship with the PD as it is Richt doesn't have the gumption to tell them/pay them to knock it the frick off

one area where Richt has fallen short imho. I don't like that Crow has done all this stuff and no harsh penalties have been given. I understand winning, etc but what kind of a message does that give to the team?

Can't remember, but I think it was Vandy. Take Sanders Commings, for another example: Multiple witnesses said all he did was yell at the girl to leave him alone and he removed her hands from around his arm. He was charged with simple battery (which is as simple as yelling at someone). Would you suspend someone for yelling at someone else? No, just run their arse because, well, you gotta save face, right? Not Richt. Richt suspends them because they put themselves in a bad situation. Makes perfect sense.

I don't understand why they are such hardasses anyway. Hell, I had several conversations about the previous afternoon's game with members of the Tuscaloosa PD while their fellow officers were breaking up a house party me and my roommates were hosting. They are all big fans too. Athens PD act like a bunch of Georgia Tech fans the way they treat the football team, and college aged kids in general.

Agreed. However, I will go a step further. We shouldn't drop our admissions standards for athletes. Create a minor league football system for guys that can't get in and don't want to work in the classroom and behave.

The NFL is so happy that they don't have to fund minor leagues.

We would all eventually get used to seeing a drop in the skill level but it would even out over time. I know it's never happening but damn do I hate hearing some of these guys in front of a microphone.

I'm all for Richt letting Crow get away with murder... but only so long as Rambo, Tree, Sanders, and B. Smith get off too. Discipline is easy, you just have to be even and fair for it to work. If you let one guy live above the otherwise enforced law of the team, then guys who have been there longer/contributed more on the field are going to feel they deserve the same treatment

you know, i have been thinking and we never really talk about it but what if richt does go like 9-3 with bad losses to say Mizzou, USCe, and UF what happens? what happens if we go 8-4? both of which we miss out on ATL despite being almost handed an opportunity.

what do we do?

ETA: and i agree with crow and the upperclassmen being treated equal

You know that scene in Super Troopers when Thorn tells Rabbit to put his cop face on? APD ALWAYS have their cop faces on. Always. Forever. My SO's dad went to and graduated form UF. He was in Athens a couple of weeks ago with us for dinner, and he started laughing because an APD officer was in the middle of the road directing traffic FOR NO frickING REASON OTHER THAN TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, DIRECTING TRAFFIC. We didn't laugh because that is the shite you see and deal with in Athens.

I'm really surprised (well, given how pussified the UGA student body is, not really) that some students haven't made a Reno 911 sppof abotu the APD. Could be comedic gold

Dude...I can't remember the name of the place, but I was out at a bar in Athens with some friends of mine who went to UGA (I came over for the Funeral Game ) and there were cops waiting across the street looking for people to arrest for public intox. I couldn't believe it.

I lived in Atlanta in the mid 90's even then only Cobb County police ranked higher than the Athens police as jerk offs
