So being a UGA fan and pointing out obvious things about SC and or their fans makes one an "alter" too? I gotta catch on to this.

Post volume, content, and thread involvement will dictate whether you are or are not an alter... as of right now, you are a suspect at best. Other posters have acknowledged it... just part of being new.

Alter is short for alternate, as in alternate account of another (usually more well known) poster.
Say I wanted to troll a particular fanbase or group of people but my post history and/or team affiliation wouldn't allow the troll attempt to be AS effective as it could be, I'd then go create an alternate username with no history and the appropriate team affiliation for maximum troll effect.
It's fairly common here amongst some people with waaaay too much time on their hands; then you have the other side of the coin where people with waaaay too much time on their hands accuse every new poster of being an alter.
