Her metric is "I'm scared shitless of losing to Alabama again."

What are you talking about?
I’m talking about which team between Bama and USC is subjectively better on 12/5/24, and how H2H from 2 months is not relevant when it pertains to these 2 teams.

I’m talking about momentum, finishing strong, coming together as a team, and peaking at the right time in all areas.

Here’s one: quality of their performance in the most recent week of play.

Here’s another: quality of their performance over the past 6 weeks of play

If we base it on the most recent week of play, then how is Georgia a playoff team at all after that game vs GT?

What happened to USC 7 weeks ago and Georgia before then? I guess both Georgia and USC magically got to be the better team the day after they lost to Alabama.

Quality: you know it when you see it.

Alabama looks like shite quality these days. Watch the film.

USC and UGA look like quality.

Simple as that

The fact you are scared of Alabama pretty much negates any such points you want to make like this.

You are scared for a reason.

Using FEI ratings

Last 5 games

Alabama (4-1)
W vs #35 Missouri by 34 pts
W @ #16 LSU by 29 pts
W vs FCS Mercer by 45 pts
L @ #34 Oklahoma by 21 pts
W vs #43 Auburn vs 14 pts

South Carolina (5-0)
W vs #19 Texas A&M by 24
W @ #39 Vanderbilt by 21
W vs #35 Missouri by 4
W vs FCS Wofford by 44
W @ #15 Clemson by 3

Again, what you really mean to say is Oklahoma was terrible. Because outside of terrible awful Oklahoma, Alabama has been extremely good for the other 4 games they have played over the last month. There is zero truth to some narrative that Alabama has been bad for the last month. They were bad in Norman 2 weeks ago. They were very good the other 4 times out.

So yes, I'd agree, South Carolina has been better over the last 5 games - specifically due to Alabama having the Oklahoma game. They would win that data point.

This one is for the many trigger-happy Bama fans:

Let’s assume Texas beats UGA. Not a coin-flip, and not a beat down. Just, you know, wins the game.

Does the CFP Committee put UGA behind Bama in the rankings? Behind Ole Miss??

Hell no, Georgia played the hardest schedule I have ever seen in my life. and should finish not lower than 7th. In fact I'll venture to say that Texas and Georgia are the only two teams that I can see winning it all in the SEC.

UGA has been at best "sporadic" during your preferred metric of measuring teams - the last month.

W vs #26 Florida by 14 (while playing a walk on at QB and was tied with 8 minutes left)
L @ #6 Ole Miss by 18
W vs #10 Tennessee by 14
W vs #128 UMass by 38 (led 28-14 at halftime, allowed 226 rushing yards, most of them before garbage time)
W vs #36 Georgia Tech by 2

UGA looks like a team that at their best is definitely quality and their worst is capable of losing to anybody in the playoff.

Look this is an attempt at good analysis and I appreciate your sincerity in the effort.

And keeping it civil, unlike your fellow fan 3down10, who is a passive aggressive coward.

But “looks like quality” pertains to the film, not simply the score, or even the box score.

I wholeheartedly agree UGA could show up and show out, or show up and get laughed out.

But their final stretch included good offensive scheming in the Tennessee game, for example, great resiliency and solid fundamentals (and conditioning) in the GT game, as another, and vastly improved patience and execution by Beck.

All great signs at this date on the calendar. Enough to beat Texas on Sat if Texas is flawless? I think so, but our weak link will be establishing the run to allow Beck time to throw (and WR making catches).

By the way this is the same gamble Texas is betting on too, and I like our DL/LB’s v. their OL more than the inverse.
