true. I just think it will be hard to replace Dixon's production.
It will, but if they go with the spread zone read option offense (Oregon is probably the best example) like the did against Ole Miss, and most of the time during the season, they are going to do serious damage on teams with weak front fours, no matter who is playing RB.

I also feel like we have some prototypical, textbook OLBs that are converted DEs from last year in Justin Houston and Cornelius Washington. They were fine 4-3 DEs, but these guys are tailor-made 3-4 OLBs.
and not to mention all the true freshman

UGA is likely a 7-8 win team this year IMO.

Yeah we've got some that can play, but I'm not going to count on a true freshman with 2 months to learn the playbook to contribute anything.

Ok...so you don't think a better defense, equal/better offense
you dont know if any of this will be true yet. the QB WILL struggle.

Ok...so you don't think a better defense, equal/better offense, and easier schedule gives us ONE more win that last year? Not a single more win?
It might not. Sometime good teams don't do quite what they are expected to.
I think Georgia will do well, but I'd be really surprised if they got more than 8 regular season wins.

no doubt. I just wanted to mention it. haha

The biggest misconception on the planet about the 3-4. To answer your question, yes we do have a behemoth in Kwame Geathers who is 6'5", 330 that we can plug in at nose. However, when Grantham was running the Cowboys' D-line he turned 290 pound Jay Ratliff into a Pro Bowler. Our current starter is 290 pound Deangelo Tyson, who played DT in the 4-3 and was a top 2 DT in the nation in high school a few years ago.
I also feel like we have some prototypical, textbook OLBs that are converted DEs from last year in Justin Houston and Cornelius Washington. They were fine 4-3 DEs, but these guys are tailor-made 3-4 OLBs. Sure we may have some guys uncomfortable in the new positions and a little out of sorts. But we've got the guys, I'm confident of that.
I'm not saying your defense is going to be shite, but to think there won't be some growing pains is just foolish because there will be. There always are during the first year in a new system even with talent.

can't be much worse than it was last year.

Well I'm not a mind reader so I don't KNOW, but logic and reasoning point to me being correct.
On defense, we graduate 2 players who had NO business starting, much less playing. Instant addition by subtraction. But most importantly, we got rid of the dead weight on that side of the staff and replaced it with real live, competent coaching again. Our defense will play better, there's NO DOUBT they will not be as out of position and as poorly coached as last year. That will result in more turnovers and less penalties, where we were ranked in triple digits last year.
On offense, we return 10 starters. Ealey didn't play until the LSU game last year, King didn't get rolling until halfway through the year, and we started the year with a RB who is now a linebacker. We have the best receiver in the conference. Our starting 5 Oline return, and several have played together for 3 years. The only ? is Murray, who will undoubtedly have growing pains, but it's comforting to know he can't do much worse than Cox. He may not throw for as many TDs, (Cox actually threw quite a bit) but it would be hard to throw as many big, crunch time, momentum killing INTs that Cox did.
The schedule is easier and that's not debatable. That's a fact.
All that adds up to AT LEAST one more win.

Well yeah, no doubt. That goes without even saying. There will be times where we look like a JV team out there. All I'm saying is we don't necessarily have to wait 1 or 2 years to recruit in a particular type of athlete. We can field a successful D with who we have on campus today.

I'm thinking state should be able to power over teams with weak defensive fronts
And if a team doesnt bring their game, strong defensive fronts. They rolled our landsharks in November

But we play the three worst SEC east teams.
we can go bowling with wins over Vandy, Kentucky, Tulane, UAB, 1aa team, and Fresno St.

I'd say OM has Nutt's ability to motivate his team for upsets, an easy OOC schedule, and three games they should win vs. the East going for them.
I also think they're a more physical team than most...and in a conference that demands that type of play it can go along way.

I agree with the 2 listed.
Both were overhyped. IMHO Evans was better than Prince

The Mississippi Schools are going to be bringing the beef this year.
