How early do you advise getting downtown to park there?

What about the Athens Transit Bus system? Or cabs if getting there early/staying late? I'm staying off Broad west of campus.

But in all seriousness, they recently put up a new deck behind the GA Theatre, usually $20 game day parking. I'd still get there pretty early if you want to be guaranteed a spot as I'm sure all the downtown lots will fill quickly

Thanks. I'm thinking downtown before & after game is the place to be anyway, so best to just park there. Probably get there by 10:30. Hope early enough!

I wouldn't park at the Athens Chili's. Kind of a dangerous area.

If you plan on getting there around 7:30-8:00 google Hancock Ave. & the best way to get there from where you're coming. It's 3 blocks N. of Broad St. & there's a lotta Boy Scout/Church lots that'll get you close to downtown & benefit some local organizations. 8-10 min. walk max to Broad St. & 25-30 min. total to Sanford... Prolly $20-$25 max to park...

ETA: saw you said about 10:30... Doubt much will be left very close to downtown... Good luck...

Oof. What about taking the bus transit? Does it even run regular on gamedays? This route looks idea for me: LINK

You'll wish you parked on Hancock and spent the $25.

your best bet is to get into Athens VERY EARLY and find a parking spot downtown

Go ahead and feed the meter, so it at least LOOKS LIKE you are trying

Come back to your car, put your parking ticket in your glovebox and mail in the $5 or $10 fee on Monday

Since all this is being thrown together at the last minute I'm not gonna advise you one way or the other. Maybe one of the current students can chime in with their thoughts...

I definitely would recommend against the bus; unreliable and with traffic on game day it will be a cluster.

Pay the premium to park close; I know of some folks who own "private lots" aka driveways on Baxter and streets close by that are doubling their price for this game but I guarantee you it will be worth every penny compared to trying Athens horrible public transit system.

I'm willing to definitely pay more for parking. Tried to find a pass online & everything was $150+. Don't want to pay THAT much, but I'll spend $60 or $70 if doable.

Bottom line... Leave 2.5 hours earlier than you were planning if possible, get parked & enjoy all Athens has to offer. If you get into town around 8:00, 3:30 will sneak up on you too soon. If you can't get there early I'm guessing you're gonna have a stressful visit... JMO...
