That was jersey-gate wasn't it?

Yup. NCAA continued to be consistent by not suspending Tyrelle Pryor for their bowl game for a more obvious infraction

If I remember correctly, UGA suspended him for two games but NCAA stepped in and said not enough... must suspend him two more. Completely arbitrary, not like there is some code in the handbook that says selling a jersey requires 4 games. Complete bullshite. Still pisses me off.

Georgia will win at least one of those games. I suspect against Dabo. Who is an idiot.

I don't see how Richt is in trouble, but to say every current SEC coach will be replaced before Richt leaves the Dogs is a stretch. Yes I'm talking to you Nicolae.

Some fans would get restless, but those are the idiots that have a "win national championships or be fired" mentality. Looking at what he has done, and the recruits that would drop us immediately if we fired Richt, we will not make such a stupid decision.
I think the UGA Administration would have to go after a Home Run Hire if Richt is let go. I do not think recruiting would suffer and it would force UGA to step up its game. They are the only Power Program in the BCS Era, who has not won a NC. If they do not show some dividends soon, USC will be in position to pass them up (even after SOS retires). You have to figure UF will step up or make a change this year. AU and Clemson should continue to do well. It would leave only GT as a surrounding program that they can look down at. Who knows what they will do if they fire Johnson after this year.

His buyout is more than Muschamp's. True story.

Legitimate concern.

One of these is not like the other. We don't play Clemson again for another 10 years.

Can't we atleast wait until they win the conference or a BCS bowl?
That is the problem. They are 4th or 5th on your measuring stick and they are about to pass you. Richt should be glad that UT has sucked lately, or the pressure would be greater.

Not as much as you may think. He is only 54 years old, I think people think he is in his 60s like Saban and Miles. I'd almost guarantee he has at least 10 years left at UGA, barring a multi-season collapse. Every coach that is younger in the conference is likely to be either fired or have moved on to another job by that point.
Only ones I think could really be argued might be Derek Mason and Gus, but I'm guessing both will be gone from their current position in the next decade.

Spurrier's 11 win seasons are a direct result of Tenn/UF being in the shitter. His SEC East title was when UGA finished the season under .500, Tenn finished with 7 losses, and Florida was 7-5.
The coach with Tenn and Florida to thank is not Richt. It's Spurrier.

No, no they are not even close. You did a solid job making the thread just look like a dumb question and not a full blown troll until this point. Much too obvious here, though.

You decide. UGA Measuring sticks based on locality and recruiting:
1. UF
2. AU
3. FSU
4. Clemson
5. USC
6. GT
7. TN

More like:
1. Bama
2. UF
3. LSU
4. AU
We wouldn't benchmark ourselves against anyone below that.

No, rarely until recently did UGA play Bama or recruited against them. How many times has LSU gone into GA for a recruit, and vice versa. Even based on your list, the #5 team (USC) is about to pass you.

You apparently aren't clear on what "measuring stick" means. I'm not real sure what your definition is, but it is clearly not the typical one. Which would be a synonym for "benchmark" or similar.
We don't have to play Bama often in order for them to be the benchmark. You put Clemson on your list, but we don't play them any more often, so how can that matter when it comes to Bama?
LSU nabs about one recruit from GA per year. We currently have one player from New Orleans committed and are recruiting two others, one of whom we are the favorite for. I assumed you'd discount them due to distance.
"Even based on my list", USC isn't there. There is no #5 on my list, they are not on there at all. We do not measure ourselves against them. Also, they are by no metric anywhere close to surpassing us in any fashion at all. They have a long way to go before they are even talking about legitimately catching up to us.
Your list is akin to me making a list for Auburn and it being:
1. Bama
2. UGA
3. FSU
4. UF
5. University of South Alabama
6. Troy
7. Southern Miss
8. Mississippi Gulf Coast CC

You might be right with the top 4. If you look at three of them you will see one thing in common.

He would go to another school if he were fired but he would not retire. There are a lot of teams that would snatch him up.
