Stanford has won it almost every year since the inception. And yes it's a media driven thing. I'm fairly confident most ADs don't say every year "man we need to win the Cap One Cup!"

Not true, Stanford has never won it. Stanford wins the Directors Cup which has no money that I am aware of. Since the Capitol One Cup is on ESPN year round I feel sure the AD's are interested in all the free publicity the year round advertising brings.
