End 5 | Texas Southern 4, Oklahoma 15
Sam Christiansen smokes a triple down the right field line and then scores on a fielding error the following batter
RHP Reid Hensley coming on to work the 6th
—-
First start, was a top 5 pitcher coming out of HS in 24 and RS.
Jacob Gholston's final line in his first career start:
5 IP 6 H 4 ER 3 K 3 BB
A bit of a mixed bag, but the arm talent is evident

Hensley works a nice and tidy 1-2-3 inning
Sooners are three outs away from staying unbeaten

Sooners win in a 7-inning run-rule.
OU baseball is now 7-0 on the season. It’s the best start in over a decade.
Oklahoma 15
Texas Southern 4

Why are the Aggies wearing Red, White and Blue? I’ve seen them wear them before, but wearing them today confuses me..

Losses to sub par programs mid week happens, but what’s happing right now is embarrassing and they should be ashamed.

Time to fire Lemonis. Dude won a natty with another coach’s players and has been sucking hind tit ever since. He’s a complete clown. 0-2 vs sunbelt teams. Mississippi State athletics are a dumpster fire and we are lead, and largely supported by morons.

Two straight losses in the early goings is bad. Usually teams will want to kind of shore up their reputation and give it their all if they lose early to a bad team like LSU just did with Omaha and Arkansas did after they lost to k state, only allowing one run to a ranked Tcu team the next day. This might be bad for Anm.

I just saw the Florida game is officially under protest. Anyone know the details?

Stetson called for it but I can’t find out why
Posted on 2/25/25 at 8:18 pm to roguetiger15
Bottom of the 7th. Stetson had a runner on third with two outs. Stetson batter facing a 2-1 count sends a high chopper back to the pitcher that goes off of his glove. Batter reaches first safely on the play, runner scores.
Umpires gather for a conference and then go to review to challenge the ruling of safe at first. After a review of about four minutes, umpires come out and rule the runner at first out because he only touched the white bag, did not touch the orange safety bag at all, and that basically is interpreted as he missed the base entirely.
Because of that, the tying run did not count.
Stetson coach, obviously, argued the call, and there was an extensive break in the action.

Stetson called for it but I can’t find out why
Bottom of the 7th, Florida was leading 2-1. Stetson had a man on 3rd with 2 outs. Batter his a ground ball that went off the pitcher's glove. Run scored and the shortstop threw the ball to first after the batter had run through first base.
But.....
Upon a review requested by Florida, it was determined that the runner had only touched the white part of first base and not the supplemental safety portion (in this case, the orange bag). According to the commentators, the rule is that the orange bag must be touched in some part. If it is not, and Florida appeals before the runner returns to the bag (which they did by throwing the ball to first, even though they did so kind of in the ordinary course of the play), then it is treated as though the runner never touched first base at all.
So, the impact is that it was the equivalent of a force out, and accordingly, the run did not score. So the score remained Florida 2 - Stetson 1 going into the 8th inning.
Then there was a 15-20 minute delay during which there was a lot of discussion between the umpires and the Stetson coach, and apparently Stetson officially protested the call and the game.
According to the announcers - and this seems wild - the protest means the following: The rest of the game will be played "under protest". After the game, the NCAA will make a determination as to whether or not the umpires got the call right. If they did, then the result of the game is the result of the game.
However, if the NCAA rules that the umpires got the call wrong, the end of the game will be replayed at a later date (probably April 15th when the 2 teams are scheduled to play in Gainesville) from the point of the protest. So they'd pick up the game with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, with the score tied 2-2 and a runner on first.
Wild.

Thanks I just found a replay of it. I don’t know how they made that call in the review bc the one camera angle was dogshit you couldn’t see anything.
Now the chances of this game being replayed is -0 but I think Stetson has a case.
To make it worse their centertfielder in the next inning had a warning track pop fly bounce off his glove and over for a three run bomb
