After last night could the Heisman race (for now) be down to Tua and Gardner Minshew? Minshew threw for 473 and 7 TDs in a conference game against a bad Arizona team, but Wazzu is a top ten team with a 10-1 record and they're getting a lot of attention now.

WVU losing yesterday hurts Grier some and Murray's numbers were very pedestrian in OU's lackluster win over Kansas.

Murray may be better than both

I don't see Minshew in the race. Getting great numbers against the #116 pass defense is hardly special. He's 60 points behind Tua in Pass Rating, despite playing against much worse pass defenses.

If Tua threw it as much as Minshew does, he'd have over 6000 yards and over 50 TDs.

Minahew doesn’t have the advantages Tua does. Far less talent around him. He should be the front runner

I agree. Yesterday, Minshew threw 55 passes and was going deep into the 4th quarter, while Tua threw 23 passes and didn't play as far into the game. But, when people look at Wazzu's boxscore they will get sucked in to some degree.

But, Minshew plays in an offensive scheme that gives him an advantage with his stats.

Tua pretty much won this after the LSU game.

Tua has the highest rating in the country (212.22). He's also only played in the 4th qtr of one game for about one series. 10 games with no 4th qtrs played is 2.5 games.

2,865 passing yds, 31 TD's/2 INT's. 185 net yards rushing & 4 TD's.

Wins over 3 ranked teams (LSU, aTm, MSU).

Minshew was going to transfer to BAMA but chose WSU at the last minute.

Tua still must finish strong the next two games. He will certainly have the best platform with the two opponents and CBS.

And Tua throws to 5 star WRs who help him out a lot as well... I agree Tua is better but blaming a scheme for one while the other is surrounded by the best team in the Nation is kinda meh.

If you had a choice to pick one of them to play for your team who would it be?

For me it would be Tua every day and twice on Saturday. He's like Drew Brees with wheels.

Tua also plays against the best talent in the Nation.

I don't get why everyone tries to pretend like Bama has some huge talent advantage. Everyone in the SEC has highly rated players sans a few schools. The SEC just set an all-time record last year with 368 players on opening day NFL rosters and only 44 came from Bama.

This is the most talented conference by far.

When you put up the numbers Tua has in the most talented conference it means way more.

Who cares if Bama might have more talent than Washington State, if all Bama's conference opponents have way more talent than WSU's opponents.

Who has Minshew played that has a pulse on the defensive side of the ball? Dude is putting up incredible numbers but he’s playing against some weak arse defenses. It probably balances out or close to it: Tua is hampered by not playing complete games but is surrounded by superior talent and plays against better competition. Minshew is playing in a system that is very QB centric and inflates his numbers with lesser talent against lesser competition and is playing the whole game to pad stats and/or because it’s necessary. Choose which side you believe more v

Other than MSST and LSU, who has Bama faced with top talent on defense that matches theirs on offense? And yes, be prepared because I will look up the croot rankings of the teams defenders that you bring up.

Auburn and UGA will have defenses that will be huge challenges for Bama the next two weekends.

What stud wrs is he throwing to? Wash St is always near the bottom in recruit rankings compared to the USC's and Oregons that they are skull dragging

We're talking right now. Who knows, Tua may lay an egg vs those teams .. Not saying he will but we're talking up til this point in the season

Wazzu's offense doesn't need 'stud' wide receivers because the passes are mostly dink and dunks. I don't see many deep balls in WSU's offense.

We're about to learn the deal on Bama. A great season could go South real quick if they lose to the cow college in an upset. Beating UGA is really going to be a struggle but you don't want to head to Atlanta dragging a loss to the barn with you.

Nevermind. I thought you were serious then you mentioned recruiting rankings.

According to the "rankings" only 5 star WR Bama has is Juedy.

Bama's other Wrs were all 4 stars and their TE Irv Smith was a 3 star. Recruiting rankings are fake. Irv Smith is getting 1st Rd grades despite his 3 star ranking.

I'm sure most of the SEC teams that Bama faced had plenty of 4 star DBS and linebackers.
