Trinidad Chambliss responds to Kiffin's comments on OM recruiting

quote:
"Me, personally, I don't agree," Chambliss told reporters. "I don't think that what he said was truthful. ... The Oxford community is nothing but love and they care about their people no matter what they look like: brown, black, purple, yellow - you know what I mean?"
quote:
"The people in Mississippi and Oxford showed me nothing but love," he said of a recruiting visit before he transferred. "One thing that I can really take away from my visit and the reason why I did commit to Ole Miss is I asked my family what they genuinely thought about the visit, what they thought about the people, if they trusted what they were actually saying, if they're gonna be true to their word. They said, 'I feel like this is the right place.' And my mom's super religious, too, and she just had a good feeling. We prayed on it, and that was the main thing. ... So, I felt like Oxford is home and it's a great place."

For enough money, I’ll go to the most racist place in the country if “God tells me to…” when I pray too.
Just admit that they paid the most and you felt like you were going to get the most out of it in all regards. Not saying God isn’t good. But I hope God doesn’t spend all of His time worrying about sports.

This just in...Kiffin is a liar.

Duh. Every coach is. Pittman was actually a huge liar. But I think a lot of people are getting sick of Ole Miss having a couple of good years and acting like they rule the world.

Trinidad is from up north and both he and his mom are way to young for this to be an issue.
I don't think Kiffin was actually lying about those things... Although a coach with more class would not have dredged that stuff up after he left.
I'm sure the Ole Miss racism probably came up a few times... and it was probably a Black recruit from the South who's grandmother grew up with in the '60s or '70s when all that was still fresh
And the Ole Miss stigma WAS a thing back in those days... and it lingered for a few decades.... due to what happened in the '60s and the reluctance of Ole Miss fans to give up the traditions associated with the Confederacy.
But I doubt it happened to Kiffin very often.... and for the most part Black people are well aware that Ole Miss/Mississippi have come a long way since then.
As tragic as the Chuckie Mullins incident was... It provided healing for Ole Miss and demonstrated to the rest of the country that Ole Miss was past all that.. And now we are thirty years since Chuckie got hurt. That water went under the bridge a long time ago... and is out in the gulf and has likely evaporated by now.

So they showed him nothing but love, DURING HIS RECRUITING VISIT?
Is Chambliss so much of a moron that we need to break this all the way down for him?

Those were actually well thought out comments. He didn't come after Kiffin really. Just said his reality. Good for him.

To be fair I am very sure a black athlete who plays for Ole Miss is treated alot different around town.

Just defending what is an amazing town and school and a program that is rolling! Lot of haters on this board over some success!!!!!

Absolutely! Great stuff by the young man!

For the record all Kiffin said was there were some people with hesitation committing due to old piss’ past.
Nothing said here negates that or disproves what Kiffin was saying.

Way to spin it, classy

Just wasn’t needed to be said or very classy for a coach to say

I’m not even slightly.

Whether or not it needed to be said doesn’t matter, that’s not the question at hand right now. The op is saying that Chambliss said what Kiffin said is dishonest. However Chambliss has no idea what other people’s families talked to Kiffin about over the last 6 years and nothing he said disproves that his family didn’t have the same questions.
