Mobile also produced Satchel Paige, Ozzie Smith and Billy Williams

Yeah Mobile has more MLB Hall of Famers per capita than any other city. Only trails NY and Chicago overall

Ozzie Smith

Ozzie Smith moved to Cali when he was 6 and was a high school teammate of Eddie Murray.

He's a legend in my book.

Are boxers great athletes ? Of all the sports, I think boxing requires the least athletics, unless you include NASCAR.

You never boxed. Pull any athlete from any sport, Bo Jackson, Deion, doesn’t matter. Make them go three rounds with someone decent, and they’ll be sore in places the never knew they had.

I have boxed, the Navy required it in OCS. I considered myself a good athlete in my younger days, but boxing required endurance and the ability to take a punch. No athletic prowess required beyond moving your feet and keeping your head away from the gloves. I don't compare that to hitting a fastball, catching a football or dribbling a ball that has a 28in circumference.

Boxers are great athletes. Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holyfield, Tyson, and other greats would have been awesome athletes in other sports as well. What if Ali or Holyfield or Joe Lewis would have made football their chosen sport? They would have been greats there also.

Clearly, you need to look up the word "athlete" in the dictionary and learn what it actually means.

You are right about Dizzy Dean. Wife was from MS and they retired here! Still well thought of enough to have a rest stop on US 49 named after him. ??
