47 of Alabama's losses came between 2000-2007.

Top 32 winningest programs of all time

Let's be real.

The correct metric is winning percentage to account for teams not playing the same number of games since the beginning of time.

Further, I would say I don't give a shite about football prior to World War 2. Honestly, don't really give a shite about pre-integration either but the war feels like a more fair diving line for the modern era.

Baseball nerds give a shite about the beginning of time but most football fans do not.

So going by 1946-2023, I come up with the following top 20:

1. Ohio State - 77.2%
2. Oklahoma - 76.6%
3. Boise State - 76.1%
4. Alabama - 74.9%
5. Penn State - 72.5%
6. Michigan - 71.5%
7. Notre Dame - 69.9%
8. Texas - 69.6%
9. USC - 69.0%
10. UGA - 68.8%
11. FSU - 67.8%
12. Nebraska - 67.0%
13. Tennessee - 65.9%
14. LSU 65.8%
15. Clemson - 65.7%
16. Florida - 64.7%
17. Miami (FL) - 63.6%
18. Auburn - 63.5%
19. Arizona St. - 63.5%
20. UCLA - 61.3%
21. West By God Virginia - 59.6%
22. Toledo - 59.5%
23. BYU - 59.4%
24. Arkansas - 59.1%
25. Michigan State - 59%

Arkansas still comes in at 24th.

The most noticeable difference is Boise, FSU and Miami.

The NCAA took 31 wins from BAMA, not sure how many from Ohio State.

Alabama had 21 wins vacated 2005, 06, 07; & 8 wins and 1 tie forfeited 1993.

Ohio State had 12 wins vacated 2010.

Vacated wins is another reason to use winning percentage because those games shouldn't be counted for or against you.

I like how A&M drops completely out of that one

I think most of their wins were pre-1940's, and nine or ten recent wins against us

An excellent observation

If I run it again for 1970 to 2023 (basically post-integration), Aggies fare much better.

1. Ohio State - 79.2%
2. Alabama - 77.9%
3. Oklahoma - 76.6%
4. Boise - 76.1%
5. Michigan - 74.4%
6. UGA - 72.8%
7. Penn State - 72.6%
8. Nebraska - 72.4%
9. FSU - 70.7%
10. USC - 69.7%
11. Notre Dame - 69.7%
12. Texas - 68.5%
13. Clemson - 68.1%
14. Florida - 67.2%
15. BYU - 66.9%
16. LSU - 66.3%
17. Miami (FL) - 65.9%
18. Auburn - 65.6%
19. Tennessee - 65.4%
20. Texas A&M - 62.4%
21. Washington - 61.6%
22. Virginia Tech - 60.7%
23. Toledo - 60.6%
24. West By God Virginia - 60.4%
25. UCLA - 60%

Arkansas has 57.8% and is next highest SEC team
Oregon is at 59.2% as they dug themselves quite a hole in the 70s and 80s.

also interesting is that the bar to get into the top 25 got higher
my guess is more teams racking up those rent-a-wins
seems I remember in my youth that a rent-a-win in the 70s or 80s was a bottom feeder from another conference like say Rice or Oregon State and not a directional school from your home state

Boise State scored all those wins against the Western Rocky Mountain Deaf Sisters of the Central Wyoming Poor

also a fair point
it will be very interesting to see how they fare with the expanded CFP
they certainly held their own with the current #1 ranked team in September

Really bad news for our Arkansas friends. Mizzou has gained 28 games on you since we joined the SEC (not counting our next win against you Saturday). We are now only 25 games back. We will have you passed up in a decade. Lol.

You sure? Mizzou vacated a ton of wins over the last decade. We’re probably already above them in real terms.

Oklahoma regularly plays 2 of the Top 10 - Nebraska and Texas, until Nebraska left for the Big 10.

None of the crap SEC divisions BS
