Just say MR is a bad coach. He has the fanbase, recruiting, facilities, and currently, UGA is on the same level as USCe. There is no excuse for why UGA is not at the top of the SECe each year... none.

quote:Thank you...I am really surprised that this conversation has gone on as long as it has. There isn't any debate as to whether or not Richt is lucky to still have a job. I was moving past that debate and moving right on to debating WHY he still has a job. The answer? You and those like you. I don't care at all...think he is a fantastic human being. I would buy his book on faith and family..but not on football. So kudos for being loyal to the guy...I just think that if you set your heart aside and looked at Richt on merit, he is fired faster than a 3* Jr at Bama that doesn't produce anything but an ingrown toenail.
Yeah. Solid contribution Cletus.

Richt sucks, he underachieves, he sleeps through the games on Saturday so he can get up early for church, etc.

Meaning UGA has had a top 10 recruiting class every year from '02-'11.
i know what it means. just hard to believe considering the production

Bad coaches don't win 2 SECC's. Other than his Florida record (which I have given up with regard to all rationality), Richt has been a solid SEC coach. Great? No. But solid over the last 10 years.

Isn't everyone picking USCe to win the East? I'm confused. Best team in division? Hazy. Doesn't compute.

I'll let Greg McGarity know.

I'm obviously going by rankings, considering that's what the OP pertains to.

Tell it to the SECr...cuz apparently bad coaches do win SEC and National championships

It's like hating the family dog: it shits on the rug and you want it gone for good, but then you look at its sad puppy face and remember how happy it made you once before it had arthritis, fleas, and Willie Martinez as Defensive Coordinator

Okay. And that's fair enough I suppose, since the original article is in reference to their rankings. But would you, stepping outside the Rivals/Scout foolishness, and suspending your Gatordom to a level of objectivity, actually say UGA is the second best team from a recruiting standpoint over the last decade?

I'm not saying Richt is a "bad" coach. All I'm saying is he underachieves, severely.

Outside the realm of vile spewing, hate sh*tting CFB message boards, I think most people would realize this line of thought for the silliness it is.
Could Richt have done a better job?
Hell yes, several times. Is he a bad coach? No.

Mostly cuz of the recruiting done by Houston Nutt
Well yeah, because Nutt's classes constitute 7 of the 10 years covered.
However, Nutt only cracked the top 25 twice in the 7 years that ranking covers him coaching. Petrino has already cracked the top 25 in two of his three full years of recruiting.
Outside of the one class in '09, I would actually say that Petrino is recruiting slightly better than Nutt did while he was here.

I didn't follow them closely enough over the past 10 years to make an objective comment on that. Although, I'll defer to what you have said, and that's that UGA didn't recruit well enough to needs, so probably not. However, that falls on no one else but the coaching staff, and Richt IS the leader/boss/CEO/ultimate decision maker.

I concur. He has underachieved the last 2 years. Prior to that he had won 10+ games in 6 out of 7 years. Why would they fire him over this?
