#1 BO JACKSON /thread

I was too young to really enjoy Shaun Alexander at alabama, but I was under the assumption he was far more dominant than Ingram.

Alexander was as smooth as silk. He didn't have Julio Jones on the outside or Trent Richardson to give him a breather either. Ingram was a really good college back, and he had a special sophomore season, but Shaun Alexander is the best back to play at Alabama IMO

Ingram being on the list is a joke, let alone being ahead of the likes of Hearst, Alexander, Carnell, etc

Meh. He had more rushing yards and touchdowns than Hearst.

There is an argument for it. I always change my mind on who is the best like every week. I will say that some people think he was some dominant force in the NFL, but he had an amazing line when his numbers were at their best. He wasn't bad and being covered up by that line, but that line

Chuck Webb.
209 carries for 1,236 yards with 12 TD as a freshman in 1989.
Tore his ACL his sophomore year and headed to the NFL. Serious drug problem.
Most talented running back in UT history by far.

Little known fact, since 1956 among qualified players (300 or more rushing attempts) Eddie Lacy is 3rd in conference history in YPC. Felix Jones is 1st
Here's a list of yardage leaders and YPC leaders. The guys that fall on both of these and the touchdown list have to be considered (* denotes bowl stats included)

iNGRAM
Over guys like Alexander.. I'd put Trent up there easily.

19th in league history in rushing yards and 31st in YPC. Ingram happens to be one of the guys that does deserve a spot on the list, not to mention you know the Heisman trophy and being the focal point of an offense that won a national title.
As far as production and accolades go it's hard to keep Ingram off the list
I find the lsu hate for Ingram a little odd. He averaged over 5 YPC against them in his career. 48 for 247 and a touchdown.
That's not Julio Jones level tiger slaying ( 21 for 319 and 2 TDs) but he had a solid career against y'all.

I like Mark Ingram, but Shaun Alexander is the best running back in Alabama history. No one has carried a team like he did in 1999.

Boo that list!

Ingram should not have ever sniffed the heisman the year he won. I'm glad he's turning it on in the NFL.. i'm pulling for him now. He was about as worthy of the heisman as AJ was.
