Don't know what the melt is about looks about right. It really doesn't matter until the last one anyway. No way Cinci should be in the discussion and Oregon hasn't earned anything.

The chairman was very clear. BAMA and JawJaw have a gap. It's 3-10 that caused all the consternation and debate.

To catch Oregon with their conference providing not one ranked team is not going to be a problem. Oregon had better hope for total chaos on the same scale that Wake Forest and Cincy are going to need. Nuclear like chaos.

In most years, I might agree. But I've seen our center and right tackle play.

Yep, we'll find out over the next 5 weeks if Alabama is worthy of the #2 spot.

Not sure what people are so upset about really.

So instead of counter arguing my point you've instead tried to reframe the conversation to me not understanding what will happen by describing back to me what I predicted in my op. Brilliant.

a 16 team actual playoff is the answer.

It allows the intersectional play against other teams, it allows the Group of 5 justifications to be tested, it does not allow byes in the first round which is nothing more than a deep bias, it allows all teams a route to a championship, and it eliminates the arguing over who is justified to be in the playoffs. If you do not make the Top 16, there is little that you would have for justifying a higher position....

You are exactly right.

And I will add: There are 2 conferences that will ALWAYS carry the most political power, whether that is with the committee OR the NCAA etc., and those are the SEC & Big 10. Full stop.

I believe they made a mistake too. I also think they picked Bama at 2 with the thought they still have to get past AU, and then UGA in the SECCG if they beat AU. One way or another, it will all come out in the wash.

I will never understand the hysteria and melting over the first CFP rankings. It’s going to work itself out one way or the other.

Exactly! All they were doing with the first one was getting Saban and three of his former assistants together.

Dumb analysis because most computer models love the "TIDE'S" Schedule and competition SOR!

This is a weak top 10 list. What is the committee supposed to do with these teams?

Michigan State, a 3 seed, is only a 3 point favorite over unranked Purdue. 3 points, what does Vegas know about Sparty?

#9 and undefeated Wake Forest is actually a 2.5 point dog against unranked North Carolina. Let me repeat, Vegas had made undefeated WF a 2.5 point underdog vs a 4-4 ACC team. That's how weak this top 10 list is.

And Michigan hanging in there at #7 is nothing less than undeserved kindness based on the idea that the B1G east division is playing each other in November.

Let's face it, folks, there's Georgia, BAMA, maybe Ohio State, maybe, and maybe Oklahoma in the end if they can finally stop somebody, and that too is a big maybe.

Do those 4 names sound familiar?

I still don’t like computers being involved, because they only look a numbers buoy on the programmers interpretations.. but I absolutely don’t like ADs and Professors on the CFP. It should be former players and former coaches only. Have an AD to oversee it, with no vote.

I agree with 16..

I always thought it would be simpler to..
Play the 5 P5 confs Ccgs. Eliminate the G5 CCG and have top to ranked teams play for the G5 bid.

Winners + 2 at large are seeded and advance to 3rd week for December, weekend after Heisman for the Elite 8 at neutral smaller bowl game site , Music City etc.

Winners go to current format 2 weeks Later January 1.

So the this year…
Dec 3& 4 P5 CCGs and G5 championship
Dec 11th Army Navy& Heisman
Dec. 17 & 18 Elite 8 at Neutral sites
Dec 24. & 25 Christmas
January 1st Semi Finals
January 11th Chamionship..

That’s gives teams 2 weeks to prepare for next round..

It shouldn’t have to be more complicated than that.

You just made my point for me just let the computers decide the final rankings 1-4 (no biases)

It really doesn't matter, except for Georgia, all teams have to win out to be included in the playoff teams. All this chatter will not have any effect on the outcome.

I find it funny sometimes they use game control for Bama and then for others they say SOS…. You would figure the best team would be the one who had he eve average of the top four criteria . Nope that’s wrong to they are the worst team in top 8.

Ohio state has 73rd sos OU 69 strength of record OU is 3rd and Ohio state I believe is outside too 10 oh and they lost at home to ….. so what is it committee ?

So you get ranked by past years performances & get "the benefit of a doubt"?... If that was a fluke loss against A&M, as you call it, then the Fla win was a fluke win. Look @ Wake Forest, if Clemsux had that record in the shitty ACC they would be in the top 4. The committee plays favorites & the 1st rankings once again prove it

No you didn’t. The games were totally different. We dominated OM from the first snap.

OM basically had the same amount of yards as you and Matt C wasn’t 100% and left the game for a bit.

31-20 compared to 42-21 with our backups in is not the same.

Who in front of Wake Forest are they better than? Most years we have double digit undefeated teams at 7-0, 8-0 and even 9-0 - November takes care of it. With rare exception the pretenders are weeded out.
