Do you really think opposing teams fear (are "intimidated") by the possibility of getting mauled by the 90,000 drunk, screaming fans of Tiger Stadium?

Lets put it this way...I bet that AU ref-gate shite wouldn't have happened in Death Valley.

Yeah the noise difference between LSU and UF is minimal. A case can be made for both, but I think the atmosphere outside the stadium is what makes LSU more intimidating because UF barely has anyone tailgating or doing stuff like that outside the swamp.
I see. Y'all are talking about being intimidating for the opposing fans. I thought you were talking about the players. I have never heard one football player tell me (and I have talked to a few that played at Ole Miss and MSU) that the fans "scared the hell out of me and I almost didn't come out for the second half".

I think that your MSU degree is the problem. Intimidating doesn't always mean being fearful of injury. This kind of intimidation is in regards to the humbling feeling that you could get. It can completely kill your self-confidence. And without that "swagger", a player may end up playing a step slower or may cause him to lose concentration.

I've been there and it's more aggravating than anything, but defenitely not loud enough to where players would have a hard time hearing calls. It's just a weak attempt to compete with noise in other stadiums even though the SEC doesn't allow "artificial noise makers". Guess the State fans have to find something to keep them busy at the games

I have to give Auburn credit...I went there for the LSU game in both 04 and 08...

Jordan-Hare was pretty damn loud both times

LSU also leaves threating voice mails for the QBs on gameday. That's a little intimidating(although I don't always agree). Listen to your voicemails a day before the game and they are threats on your life....That's crazy. Worked a couple years a go with Tebow, but last year JPW had the last word(even though he got a 15 yard penalty for referencing it after a td)

Bryant Denny was nothing special until the endzone expansion, now it has an intimidating feel to it. The expansion makes it feel like it's on top of you.

Thats how i felt when i was on the sidelines last year. I felt like the entire stadium was about to collapse on top of me. Was a very humbling experience compared to VHS.

FWIW in an interview with athlon sports magazine Tebow stated his favorite place to play is Death Valley because of the energizing atmosphere and that he can't wait to play there this fall.

AU & UF are loud, but you can't count piped in
music[noise] in the mix. If you do then the biggest PA system wins...AU had way too much of that fake atmosphere, [playing music to get the crowd into it]
