I'm sure you have a similar stance on burning the flag. I mean it's just a fricking piece of cloth.

Go over to CNN and look at all the crappy shite that goes on in this country and around the world everyday. 3 kids were killed in a methlab fire today. I'm supposed to shed some tears over the aubies trees? Give me a break.
It was a stupid thing for Updyke to do and he should be punished but people need some perspective.

So now the American Flag is equal to a tree that a bunch of fools like to throw paper that they wipe their arse with?

I'm trying to think how the LSU fans would feel if someone poisoned Mike the Tiger. It's not exactly the some thing, but close.

The Tide fans would be saying "it's jus' a goddam animal, jus' like we shoot in deer season".

Wouldn't be saying that, but I also wouldn't be donating to LSU so you could buy another tiger.

Because some lunatic so called fan that I have never met or seen in my life poisons a tree I should help pay to have it replaced? If you can't see how idiotic that is then I can't help you. If this guy had killed or injured another au fan I would give to a fund to help the family or pay for medical bills. I would do this not because I feel obligated because I am a Bama fan , but because I have human compassion and care about the well being of "people". au can replace their own damn tree with the windfall they will make this year from selling BCS merchandise.

Bingo. The OP just didn't realize that that comment was made in regard to donating money to AU. At least I hope that's the case.

The American flag is a symbol of freedom that was won by many thousands of Americans giving up their lives. That damn tree is a symbol for au fans because some drunk fans decided to throw TP in it 30 years ago and all au fans thought it was cool. Please tell me you see the difference?

Not at all but the tree is a symbol of Auburn University and not just an ordinary fricking tree much like the flag is a symbol of our nation and not just an ordinary fricking piece of cloth.

You may not like it, but right now, that one fan is speaking for Bama a lot louder than all the rest of you in the eyes of the rest of the country.

Bama can now claim another Championship.

Do you have some other Bama fan that's getting more attention right now I'm not aware of?

Do you honestly think that anyone outside of nuts who spend time on football websites (you and I included) really gives a shite? Last night, the Evening News stated that the act was done because AU had rolled Toomers when Coach Bryant died. That never happened, and they never bothered to correct the error. But guess what? People in Idaho who heard will now believe AU did that. It doesn't matter, and this shite will be forgotten once the next thing pops up.

The attention span of the average American is roughly the same as that of a gnat. Do you remember the TX/OK castration thing? This instance will be viewed in the same light. People will shake their heads over the actions of an idiot and move on.

For most folks you're right. For SEC fans though, I suspect you won't be hearing the end of this in your lifetime. It happened and you'll have to deal with the jokes and taunts from now on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an LSU fan, I know what it's like to have retards in your fanbase. I'm just glad it's you and not us.

About all we'll kill is your quarterback's cell phone.

And I am sure that folks in the Big 12 still give OK/TX fans grief over the castration thing...that doesn't mean fans across the nation give a shite.

LSU has its share of dumbasses. We both know that. You've got to love the SEC!

I swear LSU has a mole in the NSA.
