So if you were doing this same exercise for flipping coins and you got 3 heads and 1 tails, you would think 75% heads and 25% tails is the new norm? 4 flips is all we need to start the discussion? I'm sorry but your reason is retarded. Even just using regular week one is stupid since it is everyone's first week. The coaches, the players, the refs, the TV people. But trying to take anything meaningful out of 4 games from week zero is peak stupid.

For someone with your username, I'm surprised you are using an hypothetical that has a binary outcome to try and prove your point.

Nevada: +3% PlaPG
SMU: -8% PlaPG
FSU: -10% PlaPG
GT: -24% PlaPG

Delta: -9.4% PlaPG.

I at least took a few statistics classes, the first few days of which you would probably hear that you need more more than 4 observations for your sample size to even start making inferences. Maybe you got lost finding your way to class on your first few tries. But it is adorable how you think you are right.

In case you want to catch up, here you go. A nice start to your learning journey.

I miss the days when non-televised games did not have breaks unless the coach called a timeout.

Could today’s players endure?

You say you took a stats class or two but used a hypothetical "coin-flip" to try to make your point.

As a baseball fan, I'm very aware of small sample sizes being extrapolated over 162 games or a career and how worthless that is. You are ignoring the substantial CFB rule changes in this off season just because it is a small sample size.

I am ignoring anything you think you can take from FOUR DATA POINTS because that is literally what you learn in stats 101. You let more data points come in AND THEN you start inferring. This rule very well will be a substantial change to the length of games or it might not but anyone with two brain cells will tell you that you can't determine anything after 4 games. And if you can't grasp that i used coin flips as rhetorical device, I can't really help you. I am done holding your hand here.

Later.

It seems to me there are less possessions compared to normal albeit a small sample size.

Brian Kelly mentioned this last year regarding the clock changes. He said they expected to lose about 2 possessions per game. I dont remember if that was per team or not but that was my impression.
