If they keep Miles- the Rant gets treated to a mega melt.

If they fire Miles and replace him with the likely option of a coach below the tier of coaches their fans are dreaming of- the Rant gets treated to a mega melt.

If they hit lotto odds and replace Les with Jimbo everything will be fine until it is obvious Jimbo's success was built on the back of a QB that LSU won't have. Yet another melt sitation.

There is no bad option, the era of corndog decline is upon us! Stop trying to convince them what they should do and enjoy!!

You must be one of those fans who came onboard post-2000. If you had a sense of history you would know that the LSU/A&M series has plenty of streaks. Y'all had a good run, we will start the one this year that will last through your next coach.

If you can't at least even admit the risk facing the LSU program in these critical times.....

risk

Whoa there. I've been saying there is risk during this entire process.

We have two options: (1) stick with the status quo which has been a continuous decline since 2011, or (2) shake things up, roll the dice and see what happens.

It could work out or we could crash and burn. Should be a hell of a ride either way.

What sucks for Aggies is y'all beat your chest for years about beating us forever, but when the streak starts y'all will claim to be a basketball school or some shite.

I am jealous of what Bama has, beating y'all when you actually care to lose.

Exactly. That is my whole point.

I would add in y'all have greater odds for failure than success given that LSU is due it's down cycle. No program stays on top forever.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what will come about.

There is no debating three things:

1. Every coaching hire is a risk.

2. Every program has down cycles.

3. It is very hard for programs to replace legendary coaches

Those things put together is the risk factor LSU fans willingly take on. Even if y'all do get a good coach the unbridled optimism about the process is unwarrented. Y'all should be cautiously positive about the future, not balls to the wall excited like you are. The potential for melt this situation is creating is huge.

If you were a non-LSU fan you could appreciate that at least.

This is where we're going to disagree. I don't feel it is my place to tell other fanbase's how they should act about certain things. I think the majority of our fanbase (not represented on Tiger Droppings) are actually in the "cautiously optimistic" category. I know I for one, am for sure.

Of course there is a vocal portion of the fanbase (just like in every fanbase) that is "balls to the wall excited." They see the decline ending and the upswing coming in with a new coach. If that coach is a great recruiter and has a NC win under his belt, I can't really blame them.

If it's not Jimbo or Kelly it will be Herman and most of the fanbase is ok with this.

I'd be fine with Herman is that who we ultimately end up. He's a young guy, all signs (though there are truly few as a HC) point to him being a smart and talented coach and he could come in and be here for quite a long time.

We'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out.
