So if the ball was tipped prior to the cb making contact, it clearly isn't pass interference.

ATTENTION WORLD:

This is an LSU fan stating that a tipped ball negates any contact that may be construed as PI. I assume it's because a tipped ball manifests itself into the ball being "not catchable".

GIVEN THIS, let's put THIS to rest:

Great Play by Brock

So let it be written....so let it be done. Amen.

Here is to hoping that Matt Elam becomes the next best SEC safety.

I heard a high school coach from the Mobile area say that out of all the kids who were from lower Alabama that signed with Alabama in '07, Mark Barron had the most upside. I laughed at him. Then I saw him blow a kid up from Clemson in his first college game. I was so wrong it isn't even funny.

Yeah. You nailed me with that one. I also said that the OM/Bama game would come down to the wire, and that OM deserved their preseason rankings...How much of a dumbass am I?

since we are discussing this, I realize face guarding is legal in college but does anyone else like that or not?

Never understand that rule in the pros to begin with. Why should the DB have to see the ball to make a play on it??? As long as no contact is made to impede the receiver, why shouldn't he be allowed to throw his hands up to try and deflect the ball?? Stupid rule IMO, especially considering all the crap receivers are allowed to get away with.

On special teams!... on the first Kick Coverage play against Clemson.. hell yeah. DRILLED the guy.

#4 and #41 combined for almost every special teams stop last season. One of those two was ALWAYS the guy.

This is by no means intended to be in the same category (and may turn out to be a ghey post), but that picture reminds me of this white dude I played intramurals with in college years ago that would lay out horizontally and throw his body around on Defense all the frickin time. Now, remember....no pads in flag, and we played on the infamous intramural fields ....the shite was like a goat ranch....ground hard as rock. I was always like "DUDE! That was awesome!"

He never stayed down though....always got up as fired up as before - tough skinny white dude. Here's to you BM!

Ah HAH! I knew that you had some kind of interesting sports related background from all your posts. It was your comments on Earl Campbell a while back that really got me thinking. What was the highest level you officiated at?

I saw a fight between EN and Beta there many years ago. The guys who ended up looking the worst were the ones who ended up on the ground. The soil did more damage than the fist.

Take a look at THIS
Classic DPI and an example of an arm bar. When a receiver reaches for a ball with one hand, you can almost bet the defender is locking up the other......

Gotcha. Check this one out, just curious on the official 'why' it's DPI.

Right arm bar. Watch @ 1:20....the receiver tries to work his way past it. Smart receivers do that to draw attention to the contact.

I remember using that move in my junior high days as our teams lock down cb, except the refs never threw the flag.
